In MSFS You're Not A Person, You're A Camera

Even in a flight simulator you actually have to walk, lower yourself into a seat, get up, walk around, etc.

I get your point that it would have an appeal.  Though for me something like that I'd lose interest in after the first couple times

Not Walk Around Simulator, not Car Simulator, not Ship Simulator, not Train Simulator…

So how do people do their walkaround? Will call it dronearound from now on....

True. But at least they could bring back the exterior instant replay cameras that they had in their previous sim..

Ricardo has a good point.  Doesn't P3D allow you to do this for the walk around checks?  Avatar mode was it?  Or was it something build into the A2A aircraft.

In any case, walking around at ground level seemed more natural when you don't have to bother with the z axis.  I hope Asobo implement it someday.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

And what do you think a pilot is? And why should getting to your plane not be part of a flight sim? Or the walkaround? Why not let planes be parked in a hangar and open that? You really lack imagination big time. And If you didn't already know it.

You see it too much as a toy in my opinion while I see it as a Flightsim. I want to use checklists, use real routes etc. I do not want a lot of imagination in a Flightsim.

So my opinion is that I do not care for all these extras…

Everyone the way he/she likes it.
If you didn’t already know that…

I‘d really enjoy such a feature as well and I don‘t see why it should be such an outrageous idea. What‘s there to say against more realism and immersion? But yeah, to each their own…

On the contrary. Because I take it serious immersion is extremely important. Atm the world is dead. Yes there are planes and some boats and ... well lets not talk about the ground traffic. But what do you see when you fly a plane in real life? People. There are bikes, cars, boats, Trains, pedestrians and so on. Yeah you rarely see those from an Airliner perspective, but in GA or a helicopter? No problem. If you start in a glider why not have several people on the ground watching you and operating the winch? So I really recommend you to think about what simulation truly means.

This just in:  they're nowhere near done with development for MSFS 👍

I don't think the avatar system has been mentioned a single time by anyone in ASOBO or MS. I'm going to make a presumption here, since we're already a forth into development, that it's not part of the 10 year roadmap. I'm happy to be wrong.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

You see it differently than me and that is fine.

I have had the lucky change to “fly” a few times in a Level D Flightsim and that’s the way I see MSFS.

I have no problem if Asobo would add features that you would like to see. I simply won’t use them.

But I prefer Asobo to improve weather and performance first …

I think the miscommunication here is that it seems like you're opposed to the feature existing at all, rather than simply opposed to using it yourself. It's okay not to care for a feature, it's another thing to say devs shouldn't waste their time on it because you don't care for it.

Obviously that's not entirely what you're saying, and in fact you state this in your last reply, but if you re read your earlier comments, you can see how he might have gotten that impression, and where he was coming from with his reply.

I'm having trouble with my walking mod. I'm trying to modulate the difference between various times and places. For instance the military gait in 1930's Germany (Tante Ju) and the bush trip guys pursued by bear in remote areas of Kodiak Island.

Eventually, if homo insipiens continues to flourish which is in doubt, at some point we will have a total human culture simulator.  In it, you will live in a custom home in a city of your choosing.  You will hop in your Tesla ZX900 and race toward the local airport, with police on your tail for driving like a maniac.  They pull you over, and you tell them you're a Senior Captain L4 for United and are late for your departure.  She lets you go then escorts you to the airport.  You fly to SFO, and rent a car which is delivered to you after leaving the airport and you race to Pebble Beach Golf Course to play 18h before going out to the MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest to put yourself up against the best.  Back to KSFO then fly to Kenya to go on safari with a really hot guide.  Bring it on!

LOL, no wonder nothing ever gets done irl.  Maybe we are already in the simulation.

Didn't Orbx have this feature? I thought they called it 'Bob' or something similar.

they have what you want already.  It's called Grand Theft Auto

I wouldn’t mind if Microsoft partnered with Rockstar and licensed some of their character animation from GTA— although I’m certain we would never get the fun stuff. 😉
