An Arrow to Atlantic City

Featured Replies

One of the few things Bruce Springsteen did that I really liked was the Nebraska album, and "Atlantic City" was one of my faves. So here we go in my newly acquired Turbo Arrow. Got it in the JF promotion at the moment, and really like it. One of the rare aircraft (for me) that I actually want to fly at least vaguely properly.

So a brief circuit out of KACY, taking in the somewhat grey and uninviting Atlantic City coastline. The scenery is actually pretty good, and is all default. Weather is Floyd's presets, all settings ultra or high and LOD 400, 4k HDR shots taken and converted automatically for SDR via XBox Game Bar. Not perfect but not too bad.

Great captures!  Very scenic.  There is a recently updated Atlantic City city skyline on TO.  Have you checked it out? I have DL it but not flown it yet.

Looks very good for default. I recognize it all from many real life visits and I'm surprised by just how detailed it is. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks Frank, John. I went to check out the .TO version and it looked the same as this, and then realised this is probably because I'm using the Google Maps replacement tool and this is likely why it looks so good. I sort of forget I'm using it now - I got it to get better roads initially but have just found it so much better generally. This may well be another example of that.

Those pics look stunning!

I did many training flights from KFRG to Bader Field (KAIY) when it was opened. I did them mainly at dusk to night. I even took my wife there several times to have dinner. Awesome airport near the strip.

Hi Bill, thanks, and no, like I said above, I'd forgotten I'm using the Google Maps replacement tool these days. It's automatic for me now so I don't even think about it.

Thanks Jose. Never been there for real, but I was a kid in a run-down UK version of somewhere like that and I've ended up in another similar now, so I guess these places are in my dna!

Hi P, I've got to say, when my previous 40 inch monitor died I was well p*ssed off. It was a wonderfull thing and MSFS looked gorgeous on it. When I got the new one (55 inch and HDR) I wasn't too sure at first. It felt huge, and the HDR takes some setting up and getting used to, and I think I'm still some way off happy about my setup for it. But after a few months, and particularly now with the 3090 card, it just feels quite natural. The immersion is excellent - I'm never going to be a VR convert but sitting just maybe three feet in front of this thing feels quite amazing. And now that I've discovered the way to get SDR screenshots that don't lose too much of the quality I'm well happy.

I might go and see if I can get that 747SP in your recent series and see if it converrts to MSFS ok. That would make a fine Business Jet!

Wonderful shots, Andy. It's amazing, how real the MSFS world can look 🙂
