Reinstall Time?

Featured Replies

I'm still having an old issue where my logbook is never updated, and the take off and landing locations are never updated.  The only last resort I can think of is a full reinstall.  Should I bother going that route?

Do you use dev mode?

if so, that is the reason and no bug (however no one knows it should behave this way)

No.  Pointless at this stage Andy in my opinion.  Just try to identify the real reason first.

Nobody else has reported the issue so it must be something specific.

Have you checked you are definitely not in dev mode, as this definitely causes that log book issue.  You may not know it is on as the menu auto hides now.

Maybe just try turning dev mode on and then off and see if it resets anything.

I checked that, also turned it on and off.  I'm redownloading now, the part I wasn't looking forward to.  I know that I'm the only one with the issue, I'm hoping a reinstall will write over whatever was causing it.

Hoping...

No, they're not. Think about it.

🤣

MFS is one of the two sims I uninstalled few times than any other - the companion is IL-2 Great Battles, and both have a record in my disk with MFS being a winner so far.

I have it in an external disk ( the Community and the Store folders ) so even if I have to reinstall it'll be really fast in terms of Internet downloads ( just a few updates I believe ).

I don't think you would benefit from the reinstall though 😕

Have you tried to open a ticket at MFS's Zendesk ?  Or simply post your problem at FLIGHTSIMULATOR.COM forums ?

I will try to search for a fix for you and report it here.

All the Best !  Well, at least in as far as civil flight simulation goes so far yoo couldn't be better 🙂

Can you try this first and see if it does recover anything from your MSFS logbook, you never know, it won't take too long to see if it works. Good luck!

I suggested a remedy in my post, it will work and you won't lose any data. If you rely on MSFS to keep your logbook, good luck.

Unless you are doing something like constantly pausing and resuming your installation, or you are swapping out the files in the installation and manually intervening in the installation, reinstalling probably won't fix anything because the MSFS installer probably does a CRC check after the files are downloaded, to check for corrupted downloads. While it's possible that you somehow corrupted some core files of MSFS, that's also unlikely because you didn't report that you CTDed.

If you were to ask me, since you're not in Dev mode, it's probably one of your add-ons that is causing this logbook issue.  Empty your community folder (or just rename it and MSFS should make an empty Community folder when you start it up). As an alternative to emptying your Community folder, run MSFS in Safe Mode. Safe Mode is exactly designed to diagnose issues that you are encountering, because it disables add-ons. Note that even MSFS marketplace add-ons can cause problems.

My community folder is empty, I would like to try running in safe mode, how can I force it to do that?
