MSFS: My 2 Year Review

I would add to that a new generation of freeware (buy me a coffee) developers.. Because the sim uses current level software tools, young graphics programmers are coming out of the woodwork to enhance airports and scenery in general.. I cannot believe how many bridges have been redone, not to mention power lines and marinas..  Every time our Avsim group goes for a cross country flight, we first load up half a dozen of scenery enhancements... 🙂

This is the benefit of making a platform open, modern with low entry barriers so it is not only exclusive to Avsim old timers.

And clearly its not just scenery - look at Working Title, FlyByWire, Synaptic, and others. It's clear there's a lot of programming talent working to solve issues that legacy devs said were unsolvable. Mindstar said they couldn't develop for MSFS because Microsoft had 'intentionally broken functionality' and yet Working Title have a fully functional G1000nxi for free.

reading Seb's answer below the default Extra 330 will be enhanced to use these improvements in SU10 looks like

Thanks for pulling that out. That’s the best part about the dev q&a is the technical reasons or how things have been implemented.

I thought this topic was finished.

@him225 With your glass 1/2 empty I don’t think you should be spending too much time flying on this platform as you only accentuate the negative. The OP created this topic to review/discuss the good and bad aspects since the initial release. It is unfortunate that you have not been able to enjoy the immersive aspect of the technology in Flight Simulator experienced by thousands of flight simulation enthusiasts around the world. Blue skies!

<bla bla bla> ...  It has been like this since day one which is now confirmed by this q&a. All nice and good they communicate but what is the point, since this is something very basic that a new generation simulator or its users should not be wrestling with or waiting so long to be fixed at trickling speed, one can't but think they are like playing for time ... <bla bla bla>

Of course, you got to the bottom of it! They are like "playing for time"! (surely it can't be the alternative, which is Asobo telling us what the current problems with ground physics are and detailing how they plan to make it much more realistic starting with improvements already in SU10) ... Please, tell us more oh sagely one

So you think they wouldn't have noticed in alpha itself and come up with what they have written in a few minutes what needs to be done, then begin implementing in few hours and fine tune it in days/weeks? That they haven't even begun and still talk about how they plan to two years later, like its some mars vehicle they planning about its approach/landing trajectory on a planet millions of miles away where they have to be right at once and can't just experiment/test on the field which is Mars. Okay.

This ... is ... getting ... tiresome (to say the least)! Seemingly endless nitpicking, in language that at times is barely comprehensible but incessantly boring and irrelevant. Stick with whatever older sim suits you, but let's wrap this up and move on.

You have 8 more years of "we're workin' on it" to go!  Everybody sit down, buckle up, and hang on! 🙃

Really wish the VR support could be the future, now that pancake lenses are going on fashion, and higher resolution is already on its way. Don't go back on the future.
