  1. True, but this sky color adjustment is literally just changing a couple numbers - seems like it shouldn't distract too much from working on the tile swapping issue.
  2. Honestly, in keeping with their amazing ability to model a beaten up airplane, I'd love to see something utilitarian like a Piper Navajo or an later model piston Aero Commander. Something I can really beat to hell hauling cargo or passengers.
  3. My humble apartment setup - to be honest the best part is the nice small computer 😄
  4. Is this surprising? The vast, vast majority of CRJs IRL do not have VNAV. There's a lot to make fun of for Aerosoft but not having VNAV in the CRJ is realistic.
  5. Speaking of Heathrow today - just flew out IRL on the 6pm United flight to Newark, so I've got some pics for you to compare your sim flight to 😅
  6. I mean, there's hard data - 5,665 current MSFS players on Steam right now, which doesn't even include people who are using the Microsoft Store version or Xbox version. 6,900 on Vatsim in the last 24 hours as well. These numbers were unheard of just a few years ago.
  7. The default is a 787-10, the Kuro is just a mod to turn the 787-10 into a -8. They have the same avionics and systems modelling.
  8. When did we lose the ability to laugh at crazy people's antics without descending into armchair psychology and vague culture war references?
  9. I'll have to respectfully disagree with you there, I personally think it's far too late to switch to FS2002.
  10. Given Aerosoft's track record, I'm not sure I'd want "Project Manager - Aerosoft" on my resume if I wanted to actually receive a job offer!
  11. FSDT just released Houston a few weeks ago... Latin VFR released Miami.. probably over a year ago this point - Drzwiecki has released KMDW a long time ago as well. Seems odd to complain nothing is being released yet you seem completely unaware of what has actually been released?
  12. In what way is IFR functionality lacking in MSFS? I have flown the PMDG 737 in P3D and in MSFS and from what I can tell there is no difference in functionality. I hate that all these threads just turn in to MSFS vs. P3D but when people make these ridiculous inflammatory statements it only invites "Well actually my sim DOES have this!", and then the arguments start, and the cycle continues. All of these threads on The future of P3D, the release of P3Dv6, Dev statements on P3Dv6 all say the same thing: If you're happy with p3D, then V5.4 is the end of the road. You'll still get a new concorde soon, you'll still have all your current addons and scenery. V6 is not the future of P3D, and that becomes clearer every day.
  13. I'm watching the same stream - You must have better eyes than me if you think there's a vast difference.
  14. You don't speak for all P3D users - I was an FSX user, and then later a P3D user, a very dedicated P3Dv4 user, but now I am no longer. I was patient for 10 years waiting for a big improvement to come in flight simulation. I patiently watched X-Plane, but it never quite managed to reach its potential. I am happy to see PMDG working to build the future of our hobby, along with other devs like A2A, Fenix, FlyByWire, and others. It's obvious there has been a huge latent demand for a modern flight simulator, and LM had 10+ years to inspire it. But they didn't, and now life moves on. I appreciate that LM kept the hobby on life support long enough to make it to this point, and they and the devs who stuck through the time earned plenty of my money for it - I even bought V5 despite knowing I wasn't going to install it. But V6? It's the same old, same old, and at this point loyalty is just foolishness. If you like V5, (or even V4, for that matter) it's not going away - but I think we can all see with our own eyes that V6 doesn't deserve the effort of a clean install on my end, let alone updating an entire catalogue of addons on the devs side.
  15. A P3D version running on unreal engine 5 would 100% not work with any previous addons. And from there the obvious question is, if P3D v7 means everyone is starting from scratch, then what is the point? Either LM can keep iterating on ESP and making sure it continues to work on modern hardware, or they can wipe the slate clean. Would anyone seriously invest time and money into P3D v7 if they had to start from scratch? Especially when there are two other sims with already dedicated user bases? This whole argument is silly. What would P3D V7 have to offer to convince a sizeable market to jump ship? P3D only survived because it was relatively easy for devs with already existing FSX addons to move them over, and iterate on each minor upgrade that solved the glaring flaws of FSX as hardware moved on. It would have never been successful if there wasn't relative compatibility with FSX, and that hasn't changed. X-Plane survives on a die-hard fanbase of loyalists, and a sizeable userbase of Mac and Linux users who have no other serious choice. MSFS convinced devs to start from scratch because it was easy for users to enter and opened up the market to a more casual userbase that FSX had once owned, and by opening up the hobby to those who can't afford a gaming PC. P3D V7 would have to somehow *both* offer a compelling reason for users now invested in either MSFS or X-Plane to switch, AND offer the same compelling reasons for devs to switch, while also competing with the marketing budget of Microsoft and Xbox Games. Ergo, it will never happen, and at this point it's bordering on the sadness of Detroit Lions fans proclaiming next year to finally be their year. /rant
  16. Also the idea that P3D and MSFS users are entirely different people - there's plenty of us who bought PMDG addons for FSX, and then bought PMDG addons for P3D, and are now buying them for MSFS. I'm certainly a 'loyal' PMDG customer who is very happy that they are catering to those of us who have been 'loyal' to them from platform to platform as times change and technology moves on.
  17. It's pretty obvious to me at least that there's really nothing LM can do for their consumer market at this point - they're stuck between a rock and a hard place: Rock: Fixing any of the deep underlying issues with the ESP platform will break compatibility with addons and require significant work from their developers to get the addons that the sim *requires* to be playable at the level its users expect to work in a new version - but breaking compatibility will just mean developers focus on other platforms that already have a bigger user base and a growing addon marketplace. Hard Place: Not fixing the deep underlying issues with ESP in order to maintain compatibility with all existing addons means the sim will continue to stagnate and fall behind the capabilities (both visual and in regards to deeper simulation) of other platforms, and developers will continue to focus on other platforms with newer technology and bigger playerbases. V6 with Unreal Engine 5 was never going to be the answer, and V6 that was essentially just a V5.5 was also never going to be the answer. That said, it seems like V6 has somehow managed to end up in the worst of both worlds camp - a big enough change to screw up compatibility with the most popular aircraft addons, yet not big enough to actually make a fundamental difference in how the sim looks, and the deeper simulation options it offers.
  18. Thankfully no one is really entering the game at this point, especially with the failures of Silvergate and FTX and the freefall of the NFT market, Crypto at this point is mostly circulating within the same community of early adopters and not attracting significant new investment or adoption.
  19. Haha, no no, I didn't think so 😅 Yes, it's nice to post pictures of flights around the world. Especially in the new sim it makes exploring so interesting
  20. What do you mean by this? This is a real flight - flights between Taiwan and the Mainland have been allowed since 2008 https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CSH802
  21. Stunning photo - could almost believe you rented a dinghy to capture this one 😄
  22. Good afternoon from a grey and rainy Taipei. Today, we find ourselves in the cockpit of Shanghai Airlines 802 and will soon be departing for Shanghai. Pre-flight checks completed, passengers loaded, and doors closed, we push back from Gate 10 at Songshan airport and are treated to a lovely view of Taipei 101 peaking through the low clouds L8R Taipei A few minutes after departure, we break through the clouds on our way up to 35,000 feet Now in PRC airspace and climbing up to 11,000 meters, the clouds begin to break up and we see Zhejiang province below us ' I believe this is Linhai, a beautiful city near Taizhou famous for its old town, and especially its medieval-era walls built during the Tang dynasty Now on our descent into Pudong we leave Zhejiang over Hangzhou Bay, flight spoilers out Weaving through the busy airspace, the soup gradually thickens as we're sequenced onto the approach for 35R at Pudong Gear down, flaps 15 over the farmland and exurbs of greater Shanghai Touchdown! A quick clean up, and a hop skip and a jump to the nearby Terminal 1 and we're parking at Gate 3 One more look before we head off to immigration and customs Hope you enjoyed!
  23. Oh I'm well aware of the advantages of 3d printing in manufacturing - GE are now using 3d printed Titanium-Aluminum alloy turbine blades in the GE9X
  24. These houses are in Italy, printed with earth. It's not made of manure 😐 It's basically brick, but instead of making a bunch of small square bricks beforehand, and stacking them with mortar to build, the 3d printer just takes the wet brick material and prints into a single, giant brick that makes up the structure of the house.
