Makes me think of that song  with the lyrics "this magic moment" (who did that?)

I believe you are thinking about this version, and the song was composed by lyricist Doc Pomus and pianist Mort Shuman:

I removed P3D from my HD several months back and now exclusively use MSFS and I have never looked back. But this news gives me pleasure in knowing I can once again continue my PNG Air Niugini trek in the Q400. An off, I am currently exploring Papua New Guinea in the Black Square Caravan, Milviz PC6 and SWS Kodiak. Love it!

To me the Majestic Q400 had the perfect balance between simplicity and complexity and also between easy to handle and hard to handle.

In short: the Q400 is the PERFECT plane for me in all regards. It's like a sublime mix between an airliner and a GA almost. Not too complicated but not too easy. It's PERFECT and EXACTLY what I'd like to see (soon) in MSFS. (Pity I don't think it will be soon...)

This 100%. It has just the right level of modern automation to be manageable by a single person flying on VATSIM or IVAO, you are kept busy but not overwhelmed. And it's very rewarding when you know all the quirks and can plan around them! Also to know you have mastered something that a lot of other simmers haven't (okay you could say I felt smugly superior in some ways 🤣 ), the learning curve could be a bit steep because of somewhat lacklustre documentation.

The only other airliner for any flight simulator I can think of being similar was PMDG's J41. But the Majestic Q400 had that extra layer of superb framerates and simulation of aerodynamic prop effects. I hope we will see both in MFS soon but I know Majestic wlll need to fully redo the visuals and probably bring the FDE out of JSBSim and into MFS natively, that will take much time.

It will be interesting to see what Majestic announce in a few weeks, I suspect it's a long road ahead though.

Wow... $ 2.200 bucks... If it was $ 2.150, well, maybe, but $ 2.200...

In fairness the throttletek stuff looks extremely well made.  I've seen their Airbus quadrants and they are impressive.

Man, this, a hundred times this. I honestly can't understand how this FMS ever got designed, approved, and put into service. Airbus and Boeing have differing FMS philosophies, but they're both quite intuitive in their way and (99% of the time) incredibly efficient to use once you learn them. The Universal? Good lord...quite an accomplishment to be 100% both unintuitive and inefficient.

I have strong disdain for Universals! We had these three G-3s that had Universals installed. You didn't fly them consistently because the rest of the G-3s had Honeywells. Most systems have a logical flow for a flight as you step your way through set up. Universals have pages hidden under keys/sections that you wouldn't suspect lol. Entering present position can be a hunt. One day I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to delete the flight plan lol.

it was weird how some systems were overly complicated like the FMS and even the COM radios.  Yet engine start and APU start was very simple.
