Oh I never meant that, sorry if I was unclear, my bad. Your right, it works both ways, but most people in the SIM business are actually decent folk not making much from my understanding, but I hope they at least can make a decent wage for their time. I just started looking at it from the biz side of it, and I can definitely tell you I am not doing it for the money, working for free mostly, but would like to turn it into something I can dedicate more time to, we will see what happens. September 13, 20223 yr Thanks turns out I was fortunate to have a pretty tightly radiused front edge to my desk which is a corner desk and pretty small, but with a file cabinet on each side. This pendulum yoke pokes out towards you a ways so the radius makes it doable and my PC keyboard is in ergo-friendly reach. I don't think I can make Honeycomb Bravo work w/o some weird ergonomics and the TCA Boeing throttle isn't all the good unfortunately but still haven't ruled it out. I'd still like something better than Logitech and Fulcrum is making one that looks potentially very good but a lot of $$ for what it is, and I think there will be some benefit from finer control in a good throttle but not as much good as comes out of much better pitch and roll control. There must me a commercial reason for this but I cannot think what this may be? If something sells well surely this should be trumpeted to the fooftops? Not sure about the sales figure for XP 12, but people using XP 11 are seeing advertisements in game to buy XP 12 when they play XP 11, and some people are commenting that LR is looking very desperate to be doing this, as if LR didn't make their sales target for XP 12: https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/xdfaq0/ingame_popup_ads_for_xp12_while_im_playing_xp11/ Edited September 14, 20223 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

September 14, 20223 yr Well if I had a fully modded and equipped XP11, I would propably not want to get a 60$ upgrade to XP12 beta where half my addons are missing or need a paid upgrade as well. my African sceneries for MSFS : https://darshonaut.blogspot.com/p/msfs-2020.html

Simmarket is targeted advertising. Their list of top sellers changes depending on whatever product you view. Change to a different product site and suddenly the previous top seller isn't even in the list anymore. Try playing something like COD from 2019, the newer game titles are all over the menu trying to lure you into buying them. Quite obnoxious really.

Most likely the number of XP users is in at the most tens of thousands, compared to the MSFS number which are a million plus. Anyone surprised that developer's and sales outlets are flocking to MSFS, Edited September 15, 20223 yr by Bobsk8

I think it's okay to advertise on the loading screen. I don't think it's okay to advertise if you're in-game. So for a flight simulator like XP 11, in-game counts when you spawn into your plane, spawn into the airport, etc. For COD, I would not be happy if they ran ads in-game. On loading, I think it's fine. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
September 15, 20223 yr MSFS does in game advertising with the world map, but that's different than flashing up a buy now ad on final approach for your destination airport. XP11 having the advertisement on the main menu would make sense to me and I don't think anyone should fault them for that. Flashing up an add in game is a bit meh. I doubt it has anything to do with desperation. I am sure it's a technique recommended by someone to help. Desperation would be shutting down XP11 with a server check a forcing an upgrade to XP12. I don't see them doing that ever.
September 15, 20223 yr Now that people have seen the default scenery in XP12, I suspect that LR has already sold the vast majority of copies they're ever going to sell of XP12. The big seller now in XP world will be add-on scenery to cover up the default disappointment. As you say we wouldn't even be talking about it if it were an ad on the main menu screen. But it isn't and they're not stupid, they know such a popup is annoying. On the other hand stuff like that can help with sales, but it definitely helps more if you have a monopoly (hence MS annoying the hell out of people with win 11 nagging)...
