Fenix Update is out, too

Recommended Posts

Dave

@everyone my beautiful people of the Fenix discord, it is with great pleasure after waaaaaaaaaaay too long, I can announce the update is out, changelog should come through the app soon, I won't post it here for now as it's far too long. Now I await to see if I broke the plane worse than the microwave... Seriously though - this took longer than it should have, and we're making some big changes internally to avoid these sort of long periods of not-a-lot again. Thanks for sticking with us everyone, we'll keep trying our hardest even if it's not perfect! We'll be back soon with more information about what's coming next...

○    New "simplified" NWS logic added, simply put - if you want to use the tiller when you ONLY have a rudder axis and no nose wheel steering axis bound, simply push the PED DISC button on the tiller. This will now give you tiller only control via your rudder pedals until speed > 20knts AND thrust set above CL, or if speed > 45knts. If you have nose wheel steering axis, then DO NOT USE THIS.
○    Fixed inconsistency issues with latched buttons when setting panel states - latched PBs should now be appropriately set as LATCHED or UNLATCHED as opposed to simply being locked in the position the aircraft started in, despite changing panel state. This was painful.

first pattern at KBOS: loads fast (no WASM recompiling seen), flies fluid. did just a little hand flown touch and go, need to leave my rig alone now unfortunately, more later/tomorrow but so far so good.

Do you finally hear the engines in the cockpit, e.g. during engine start?

Your can hear them sort of a low rumble. but there are a ton of other cockpit noise changes (probably sounding even more realistic, never sat in one powerimg up) A lot more engine noise on the take off roll, and using reverse thrust.

Sounds-wise I'm barely hearing the engines in the external view during startup. The runup sounds a lot better though, and the buzzsaw is a nice touch at TO. Still needs a fair bit more work compared to other offerings on the market imo.

No, the new API isn't near enough for them yet.  ASOBO still has some work to do on it.
