Ryanbatc Flies Austria

Featured Replies

Once in a blue moon, I find a really neat little scenery (outside of where I typically fly in the US).  And then naturally I have to do a flight.  Today I downloaded this lovely airfield called Voeltendorf:  https://flightsim.to/file/41048/load-voeltendorf-airfield

I wanted to experience arriving here so I also bought LOWS Salzburg from Digital Design.  I think there are one or two more options but this one looked the best to me.  It was about 17 USD on Contrail app.

Regrettably I have zero clues about flying VFR in this area, if it is even allowed or not.  But I did stop at the contact ATC line LOL!

So here you guys, a rare Eurotrip for me flying the Just Flight Turbo Arrow III from LOWS to LOAD.

Hopefully you find it enjoyable - and please tell the air traffic controllers at LOWS that I am sorry if I violated any procedures haha!

Can someone from this area help me on pattern entry?  Here I went over the field for left traffic.  What is most common in Europe?

This is really detailed scenery - the ramp area is a metal mesh - and represented pretty well if you look closely (once you download the scenery for yourself)

Here you find the information about the pattern:

Piloteninformationen (voeltendorf.at)

In Europe, traffic patterns often are are non standard for noise reasons. You often find the charts on the homepages of the airports, sometimes even very detailed ones like this (for Schupfart) or even as msfs video like this (for Saanen).

What a beautiful little gem, thanks for sharing. And the shots are spectacular in themselves, too... 😉

Thanks, this will come in handy once I get round to visiting that field.

Excellent pictures as usual Ryan!

And thanks a lot for the tip with Voeltendorf. It looks indeed great and seems to be the perfect place for a few flights with the Tiger Moth.

Greetings
Tim

Thank you!  I was wondering if this was a glider only field but there are pistons in the photos on google

Thanks Tim - yes I think the Tiger Moth would be perfect for this area

Yes, I find these pictures very enjoyable, but the later part, coming from someone well-versed in traffic control is not excusable...🙂...Oh well, sure, I'll radio them when I get a chance...

BTW, glad you're exploring EU/Austria in the virtual world of MSFS...!!

Marvelous shots, Ryan. You are correct, in #3 is the famous Red Bull hangar no. 7, hosting a collection of historical airplanes, helicopters and Formula One racing cars.

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds
