Are you all using v5 with the exception of @Antonov22 who's on v4.

I wonder if that's a factor? Given the mass exodus from P3D to MSFS it seems a pointless exercise. There must be a fraction of us still using it.

I only use v5 nowadays. I can't remember when it started exactly, but I think this "Verifying Files" thing has been going on for quite some time now. At least 1 year+ on my side. And I can also confirm I always have to enter the credentials again on ORBX Central, it rarely remembers it.

I haven’t had to enter any credentials. Just choose Verify Files.

5.3 just have to verify files..

5.3 here. Happened to me this morning 

Pretty much every time I use P3D now, which is only a couple of times a month.

At the point where I go to Orbx and verify files before I launch P3D.

I had to verify files yesterday on P3D4.5. Usually it's for an update but not sure this time.

There’s been no updates for a very long time. I suspect it’s a check on whether you have a valid licence. If so I find that extremely insulting. No other software developer requires checks like this.

I’m still awaiting a reply to my ticket.

Nothing new. An annoying anti-piracy 'feature' that too many developers have used (usually for installs/re-installs), only to leave customers in the lurch when they close/allow to lapse their authentication web address/server when they no longer want to be involved in the hobby.
Part and parcel of being a flight simmer who buys add-ons, unfortunately.

EZCA working perfect in both 4.5 and 5.3 here.

I have received a reply from Nick at ORBX saying this is a new requirement by Parallel 42. He suggested I raise the issue with them.

I’ve raised a ticket and would urge others to do the same. I do not like having to repeatedly prove I am not a software thief.

I will open a ticket today & thanks for posting. I’m on 4.5HF3 and I too get this annoying ChasePlane message.

This is a requirement to use ChasePlane; not a personal attack on you. Proving you're not a thief isn't the core of the issue here; it's identifying those who are.

 

Also just to clarify, Orbx has not taken over support; product support still happens here in a direct line with us.

 

To answer your question...

 

Please explain why this keeps happening and how it can be stopped. 

If ChasePlane is used frequently this can be avoided; if not, it may require a license validation. 

 

So those like myself who fire up P3D several times a week shouldn’t get the validation check. But I do and I’m sure others do too.

 

I’ve replied saying I’m not satisfied with the answer. The balance between annoying the customer with excessive checks and trusting most of us are honest is distorted hugely towards protecting their product.

And he replied to my reply with this…

”ChasePlane is still a very high-selling product SKU for us. A lack of new features does not equal a lack of support; this product is very active. The last update was released, the last time Prepar3D was updated, and at this time, there is no information claiming //42 have ceased development of ChasePlane.

Thank you for the suggestion. While we cannot guarantee the inclusion of your suggestion, I can assure you we'll document the request accordingly for future consideration.”

I replied saying if I get another validation check inside four months he’ll be hearing from me again. I’d urge others to do the same if this check annoys them.
