FSLTL vs PSXT

Featured Replies

Another vote for PSXT with RT. When you consider how much we spend on the sim on all of its aspects, the cost for real traffic and real movement is not bad at all. It is such a much better experience.

FSLTL is great value - & effectively adds to the immersion factor,

some good models, lights, sounds & contrails 🙂

the FBW installer just works & the traffic Injector is very stable software…

Yes but this thread is about FSLTL vs PSXT... Did you try PSXT too?  If not your post is pretty useless in this context.

but curious about aircraft departing WSSS's new runway (but no runway yet in the sim).

They will then land in the grass, no problem . However, this is a minor issue. How many airports -world wide- are having a new runway that is not yet in the Sim?

On the other hand FSLTL aircraft may land at runways that are closed for maintenance, or temporaraly closed because there is an accident, and they may land at runways that are not in use, or even in the opposite direction of real live traffic....

So who is the immersion killer? 😉

BTW, In PSXT v32.4.0 (just released), I've reduced the buffering of real traffic data (for vectoring) from 30 to 15 seconds. There is also a delay in the transmission of the data over the internet, so the PSXT traffic in MSFS is now only 20 to 30 seconds behind real time. Great for listening to liveATC.

No, because PSXT does not include models & relies on costly RealTraffic subscription…

@kiek

Hallo kiek,

I have already used PSTX a few times with a monthly subscription from Realtraffic.

Unfortunately, the AI planes mostly stuttered when they rolled or flew.

If it wasn't a problem I would try again.

I have tried both. Most of the problems with Asobo live traffic and FSLTL will be solved over time, certainly the slow taxi speeds and rotating aircraft will be. For me, even with the issues, I like the pre-flight prep, the truck push-back, the in-game ATC and MFD traffic integration that FSLTL provides. This is all absent in PSXT and the stuttery movement is an immersion killer for me. I detest stutter of any kind. It would be good if the developers could solve that but perhaps it's another sim connect issue.

It works with the FSLTL liveries too.  And I'm still wondering why you've posted.

I am the only developer.  I have tried several options but the problem with an external program such as PSXT is that it depends on  the schedular in the OS and the priority MSFS gives to its SimConnect thread.

PSXT provides 30 updates per second for each aircraft, but they are not always imediately 1:1 processed by MSFS. Maybe Asobo improves the performance of SimConnect in the future. They have to do that anyway for their own, what they call "ai" .

That PSXT is not smooth as silk, does not bother me at all. If you are in the virtual cockpit of your plane, you hardly notice it.

Queing up for take-off with real live aircraft around you and live ATC is what I call immersion. Canned traffic is an immersion killer, imho.

Live ATC is not an option in the UK.

PSXT shows Live Traffic including delays and diversions as it is at that specific moment. And, what is important to me, they take off and land on the correct runways like their real world counterparts do…

I use it all the time. Flying in a landing queue adds even more to the realism.

The idea of F`SLTL is nice but it works with flight-plans. It depends on the MSFS default traffic engine with all its hick-ups. Many times ac will be taking off / landing on another runway when there are crosswinds.

And last but not least :  how does FSLTL obtain data from FR24 ? ….. You cannot simply dl schedules from FR24.  Something to think about ….

I fully second this, I can’t fly without PSXT just because of the immersion it creates. This holds especially true around airports that have complex airspace such as the NY metro area, regardless of if you use live atc or not. Airplanes are following SIDs, STaRS, real roll outs on the runway, real taxi, real routes, pretty much every airplane in real life is replicated 100 percent in regards to flight pattern. You also don’t have to mess with AFCADs and such. Adding LiveATC within geographic coverage is just the icing on the cake and it makes it so much fun flying a real time flight.

@AamirNOW PLEASE MAKE FENIX LISTEN TO THIS AND MAKE THE A320 compatible with PSXT 🙂

You may fly in other countries too you know, what about your neighbouring country The Netherlands?

EGLL-EHAM  a nice 40 minutes, after work flight, with live ATC at EHAM! 😉

What is the recommended tool/app of choice to listen to live atc when using PSXT?

I use VLC media player and use streams from LiveATC.net. It gives you the option of delaying the audio(to sync up with RealTraffic which is about 20-30 secs delayed). I’ve made a few videos with the live atc and PSXT working together if you would like to check it out.

Thanks, much appreciated!
