Read through this thread and wanted to make sure i have the correct settings In MSFS I have DX12 with frame generation selected and using TAA as well. In NCP, under resolution I scrolled down to the PC selection and input 3840x2160 at 120Hz. Is this what you have set? So with FG, 120 is effectively 240fps? That seems insanely high for MSFS? I run the LG C2 and in order to keep my FPS at the monitor refresh rate I set my FPS to 118 in NCP and vsync off in the sim. Works great and not exceeding my monitors RR. They say to set it one or two FPS below. Setting 120 is not going to double your FPS. The sim can only put out so much. I found if I exceeded 120 too much I was getting tearing and stutters during panning. No frame limit = no stutters. Eric

I don't have g-sync enabled. I also made a mistake. I actually set my FPS in NCP to 58, not 118 as I said earlier. This way when I had Frame Generation enabled my FPS was 116 FPS. You can read what I did here. Sorry about the earlier value of 118. Each system is different so finding a balance is the key. I screenshot your linked post for future reference. For now, it seems g-sync with VRR enabled in NCP and game mode which enables g-sync / VRR on my LG OLED works very well. Temps on my cpu and gpu are well within my personal tolerances. First time I’ve ever used HDR in MSFS and I am absolutely astounded by what I was missing! Edited April 30, 20233 yr by B777ER Eric
April 30, 20233 yr I’m a new 4090 owner and I found that as soon as you turn on frame generation the Nvidia low latency in the sim turns on automatically and your fps gets capped 3 below your monitor/TV refresh. For instance I’m running my 55 inch Sony X90K at 100Hz and with FG on I see 97 fps in the sim. I just leave VSYNC on in NVCP. I think that’s the correct way. I have tried every option recently and the best result I have found is: NVCP Low Latency Mode - Off Max Frame Rate - Off (I tried locking 58 fps as others suggested but in the sim it gave me 58 fps and not 116 fps according to RTSS for some reason) I tried also locking to 117 fps using RTSS and while it creates a very smooth frametime with little to no variance there are stutters. The best result seems to be no fps cap at all. GSYNC - On (Full Screen) Threaded Optimization - On VSYNC - On (VSYNC has to be on to prevent tearing even below 120 fps) MSFS 2020 Full Screen 3840 x 2160 TAA Frame Generation - On VSYNC - Off Ultra Preset Sony X90K Refresh Rate 120Hz using HDMI 4 (VRR) Game Mode is on automatically using VRR on this TV I have tried with no GSYNC but while the fps are high panning is just not smooth Hope this helps Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |

Google “g-sync screen flicker” and you’ll see many get it. I run DX12, not sure if you do as well? The flicker is very annoying as the sun sets and at night. I’m on a LG OLED 55” (g-sync compatible) and from my research some panels are more susceptible than others. Still going to troubleshoot but had to disable g-sync for now while I try to sort it and I’m running 100Hz with frames locked at 98 in NCP and vsync fast on in NCP. Eric

Yes I get the gsync flicker from time to time. It’s more pronounced with HDR because the brightness is maxed out. Running at 120 Hz seems better but I haven’t tested this enough. I get almost none running non HDR with the settings I mentioned above. I am also running DX12 to get frame generation. I had a LG QNED 55 before and that suffered really badly with gsync flickering. First time ever I ran with HDR after my upgrade and now I can never go back to non-HDR. Simply stunning and so much more real to me. I just wish Microsoft would get a handle on this flicker issue with g-sync. Edited May 2, 20233 yr by B777ER Eric

Frame generation with 4090 and 7950X CPU using TAA with G-Sync = WOW! I have this running with G-Sync on an LG-C1 and I am gobsmacked. Its silky smooth, and with TrackIR it IS the holy grail! My initial reaction was WOW, and now it is double WOW! I mean out of big hubs at 120 FPS (max fps/hz my TV can do!) it is unbelievable. I even had traffic running and everything on Ultra. I am amazed, and I would 100% recommend anyone looking to upgrade this combo is mind blowing! 10/10 from me. Spec is AMD 7950X, 32GB DDR5 6000MHZ, PNY 4090, all water-cooled. LG-C1 65" 120HZ G-sync 4K. How do you not get that OLED flicker that GSync is infamous for? I run the same TV as you but in dark scenes I get this flicker that when you Google it is apparently well known issue with OLED and GSync. I had to turn GSync off as it is too distracting for me. I run MSFS in HDR so not sure if you do or not? I can tell you after seeing what HDR does to the sim, there is no way I’ll ever go back to SDR. Edited May 4, 20233 yr by B777ER Eric
May 5, 20233 yr I finally got myself a 4xxx series card (MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio) and yes, this is really close to the holy grail. 50-60 FPS (with FG on of course) in the Fenix VC sitting on Aerosofts EBBR with AI traffic and bad weather, I never thought I will see something in a flightsim. I purchased a service remote and turned the auto dim setting off that can cause it.
