But when I choose the plane's anti icing features the ice goes away. ..

As I understand from the manual, GSX deicing simulates the aircraft's anti-ice systems being on. It's not clear to me how long this effect lasts - I suspect it applies only as long as the deicing vehicles are busy because I am still getting the normal ice advisories with the JF BAe146.

Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Hmm, it's good to know so many people are having success with this product, but for me personally, I'll give it a wide birth after my previous experience with GSX in P3d. In particular, Couatl, which I assume is needed, was so buggy I can't even think about it without becoming anxious.  I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Yep I just tried it and all was well here.  It was just as hoped just followed ATC's direction and GSX was there to do the deboarding. spacer.png

If you use the GSX menu to select the gate right before parking the default services will despawn and you won't get any overlap/doubled services vehicles.

If you're close enough to see the vehicles it should work.

It's not perfect but it is ready enough to use.  Couatl doesn't pose any problems here for me.  Succinctly put:  even w/ its imperfections I would buy it again.  My guess is Umberto will continue to polish it because hopefully MSFS will be around many more years.

I took advantage of the latest sale.

I found that my main pet peeves I had with GSX in P3D made it to MSFS:

Why do the baggage carts have to crawl along at walking pace? Why do they have to start from the opposite end of the airport perimeter two miles away? And why do they wait until the catering and refueling is completed before they even start their looooong journey? That can add up to 10-15 minutes wasted time.

Why can we choose the arrival gate only under 10.000 ft? Think of airports like SEQM with an elevation of 7000 ft or more. Now that GSX takes the arrival airport from SimBrief it shouldn't be an issue to choose the gate during cruise.

Nevertheless I'm very happy to have GSX again! It adds so much life to the sim, making it a lot more immersive. I don't want to miss it.

This has been explained so many times, that I basically lost count of it. If an airport is badly designed, without the slightest regard to ground vehicles, it will affect where the ground vehicles will start and how much time they'll take to reach you.

Because, of course, in order to minimize the chance to clash into AI, GSX tries to route its vehicles over paths dedicated to ground vehicles, even if the path would be longer, and this is exactly how it is in real life. However, in real life, vehicles parking places are in several places within easy reach of the main terminals, not "on the opposite side of the airport", but clearly there's not much GSX can do to fix sloppy designed airports.

This was something we just left there from P3D, because in P3D there was a BUG in an undocumented API call, which resulted in the sim crashing itself when flying over remote areas and, since we couldn't do anything to fix this but, we just stopped looking for nearby airports while flying.

This is not really required in MSFS anymore, because we don't even use that API anymore, and since there's a new supported Navdata API instead, with the next update, due out this weekend, this limitation will be GONE, and you'll be able to pre-select a gate at any altitude or speed.

Maybe a dumb question...but can you tell GSX to be at a specific gate without using the in sim ATC?

Absolutely. I was one of those you answered to a few years ago. Still I don't find your reasons quite convincing.

But that is your decision as a developer to always use a vehicle parking spot as the starting point for the baggage carts, no matter how unreasonable that might be given a buggy airport design. You could just use a node on a taxiway at maximum 300 meters away from the aircraft as a starting point instead, couldn't you? Or you could massively speed up the baggage carts as long as they are more than 300m away from the aircraft. Maybe you can at least add such an option.

I wonder if anyone knows how to REDUCE THE VOLUME of the female status announcer:  "This airport is too small for your aircraft...." etc etc

Neither of the volume sliders in GSX affect the volume and it's obnoxious!   It really deserves it's own slider.

Similarly, is there any way to turn waaaay down or turn off the repetitive boarding/deboarding passenger sounds? I can hear seatbelts buckling and a couple of 'Thank you' sound clips at full volume only for a couple of minutes before I begin going nuts, and boarding takes so much longer.

Anyone know if it's possible to change the position of the parking indicator?  It's too high for the 738 such that it is out of view well before you're at the ideal stop point.  It looks nice and I love the arrows!

You need to edit the parking position. The position of the indicator is dependent on the position of the marshaller/VDGS. I believe standard distance is about 20 m.
