Microsoft store updates - 26 today.

Just a heads up, I always check the store for updates every day, before launching the sim. (Launch the Store, look to the bottom left of the screen, for a blue dot next to the library symbol,)

Was surprised to see 26 today, usually just one or two.

Even when you've installed the updates, best click on "Get Updates" again, for some reason if they're updates to Xbox or the Store, they seem to come in 2 parts, which was true today.

Content Manager does this in-sim, will tell you how many updates there are to do and it's a snap from there so that is my practice to have a look there.  I just took a look at the Store and there are no updates for MSFS there so that seems proof positive looking in-sim works as well.

You should. Some of the MS Store updates, such as “Gaming Services” and the XBox app, are not directly part of MSFS, but are required to be on the computer for MSFS to connect properly.

Good point. When I looked yesterday, all apps were updated automatically.
The MS Store app has automatic updates switched on.

Why do we need a thread telling us there's MS Store updates? I don't see the point, it's not like we need one for Steam Updates, Origin, Epic <insert other generic updating software here> etc etc

Everyone has different apps installed, makes zero sense to alert people that you've got updates...who cares!? 🙄 Absolutely nothing to do with MSFS.

I completely agree. It's confusing.

If there are any Xbox or gaming services related updates in the Windows Store and they are for whatever reason not updated automatically by Windows then such hint may very well prevent some of the „I cannot login“ or „MSFS does not start“ posts. We just shouldn’t discuss this at length and take it as surely intended - a polite hint to check the Windows/MS store

Maybe there should be a sticky explaining all this for users unfamiliar with how all this works.

Basically:

Microsoft Store - all the word not allowed that Microsoft wants to sell you

In-game Marketplace - all the word not allowed you can buy for MSFS 2020

Content manager - your word not allowed

XBOX app - you need this to run word not allowed

People get confused so easily here sometimes. The Microsoft Store is full of apps, many of which come with Windows by default. They need to be updated from time to time. It happens automatically eventually or you can go to the store and force an update. Some of those apps will have an effect on MSFS so it wouldn't hurt to keep them current. The thread is just as relevant in this forum as one telling you a graphics driver has been updated. Amazes me how people still feel obliged to comment on a thread they have no interest in.

Amazes me that people need to be baby sat for every update, if they own a PC then one of the very basic things they should know is how to keep their system updated.

Totally agree that we don't need a new thread for every GPU driver, Windows update, etc etc there's already forums within AVSim that cater for those needs. Any update thread in the MSFS section should focus purely on an update to MSFS itself, not this that and everything else!

I do find it a bit silly when the usual suspects post about an update for an addon that anyone who has that addon will have recieved notification of from the developer anyway...firing for effect

The OP doesnt quite fit that scenario, but as the poster above says its a thing with all sorts of updates

Seriously, the man's just trying to help. Don't like the topic, move on the next one that you do. Your wastage of 5 mins of reading time means nothing and if it does, then you're in the wrong place.

There's a reason we have mods, let's not try not to take over their job.

You do realise that is exactly what you just did?
