Most add-ons require installation into your MSFS Community folder. Just delete the folder these freeware files from flightsim.to came in.
(You may need to try to redownload the files to work out what the names are to search for in your Community folder).

For JustFlight's taxi signs, search your start menu for 'BlackSquare' which should bring up the uninstall program(s).
If not, go to your Community folder again and look for folders called 'bksq-euro', 'bksq-us-bcde' and 'bksq-optional-textures' (depending on which product(s) you purchased) and delete them.

Not all modifications are installed like that and some involve replacing files in the sim itself. Perhaps I have misunderstood his issue but I suspect that if what he had done was a matter of just dropping files in the community folder and removing them he wouldn't be here asking about it. The fact that he said:

Suggests to me that that he has gone into a part of the folder structure somewhere and replaced something without backing up the original files and now he doesn't have them to fix the issue.

I smell a reinstall coming unless some clever soul here can come to his rescue. There are a few about here. I'm not even sure verrifying the files will work if that is what he has done. I'm not sure though.

Maybe you can get the files (or folder) from another user (if we're not talking about manualy searching and selecting 1000 files)

If some could send me the file if possible I would be very grateful let me just the info

1. Navigate to the directory depending on which edition you installed:

  • Microsoft:
    X:\[YOUR INSTALLATION DRIVE/FOLDER]\Official\OneStore\
  • Steam:
    C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\steam\
  • or Official\[Your edition]\ folder in your custom directory if you chose a custom installation destination

2. Then continue to
    fs-base\scenery\Global\Asobo_Props\TEXTURE under above,

3. Find default TAXI_SIGN_SYMBOL.PNG.DDS and copy (or rename) it somewhere else

Yes, I had thought of that when I wrote what I wrote but I am unsure of the legal ramifications of it regarding this software or how clever their anti-piracy recognition is these days. You are sharing parts of the official package, after all.

Perhpas someone with more knowledge on this could chime in.

If the current file is completely removed or renamed to something like .bak, MSFS should notice it is missing and download it during 'checking for updates' shouldn't it?
I know there is something similar in Steam, where it will audit your files and download new versions of missing or corrupted ones.

So if you deleted that file rather than just writing over it you can check your Windows Recycle Bin and restore it.  Sort the Recycle Bin by date deleted.  In the future  you can place files on a side rail so to speak as you do trial and error.  Just place an underscore character into the original's filename like this:

_TAXI_SIGN_SYMBOL.PNG.DDS

Then it is still there for you to restore if needed by removing that underscore character.

Also, would you please point to this modification on TO?  I am not finding it.

It's this file - I've been using it too but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the latest update.  It was working very well though - a great improvement over default.  Unfortunately there is no Community install method and typically you just copy the files again after each service update.
