January 27, 20233 yr Posted by: Microsoft Flight Simulator Team Screenshot by 2525ARW (Twitter) Beta testing for Aircraft & Avionics Update 1 (AAU1) is in its final stages, and the team is planning to wrap up public testing in preparation for a full release soon. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the public test and helped us identify bugs, issues, and regressions. Yesterday, we hosted an Exhibition Match in the Reno Air Racing mode on our Twitch channel. These races featured some prominent flight simulator content creators from YouTube and Twitch. This event also represented the kick-off of our next Reno Air Race Series! Presented by Tobii, this contest is open to all sim pilots. Simply by entering, you will receive a 20% discount code for a Tobii Eye Tracker 5, and up to 49 lucky entrants will be selected to compete in virtual Reno races in March. On the line is flight sim hardware, merchandise, and – most importantly – bragging rights for the title of virtual air racing champion for 2023! You can find all the details on how to join this event (and automatically receive the Tobii discount code) on our forums here. Finally, the next of our Developer Livestreams is scheduled for next Wednesday, February 1. This livestream will have a specific focus on the following items: Missions Localization World Update 12: New Zealand Points of Interest Airports Full details for the Developer stream can be found here. MSFS Team DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP & FEEDBACK SNAPSHOT We will have more to share about both the Development Roadmap and Feedback Snapshot in next week’s Developer Q&A. January 27, 20233 yr Oh... this topics for next QA are really making me worry. Missions Localization World Update 12: New Zealand Points of Interest Airports Again, they are putting focus on things that, at this point, should be last priority. I still hope that roadmap next week will show big effort on core simulator. Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 64Gb DDR5@6000Mhz cl30, PCIe 4 NVMe SSD, RTX4090 GPU

But I agree, some roadmp on the SIM updates re: core platform would be nice but obviously that info will follow Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

I still hope that roadmap next week will show big effort on core simulator. There are so many great things going on with the simulator that I really appreciate, such as the AAU updates, and I understand they aren't too bothered about ATC and AI traffic behaviour, as they say it is not core sim (some may disagree), but what really still gets me is the ground handling, and take-off and landing stage. That is core sim, and it really isn't very satisfying. My pet peeve is on take off and landing, at speed, you only have to give the slightest rudder input and the nose of the aircraft moves immediately - like it has no inertia. A lot of people have problems keeping on the centreline due to this, especially, with rudder pedals. You only have to watch several of the experienced YouTube content creators weaving all over the place to tell it needs looking at. So I wish they would look at that with some urgency. I’ve noticed this a lot with inputs in flight as well. TBH, I’m not even sure if inertia is modeled in sim at all? Is there any official word on this? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

Is there any official word on this? I have heard nothing concrete officially. The question has been asked a few times on twitch sessions etc., along with the ground friction, and over-reaction to crosswinds (might all be linked), and the answers have been a bit woolly, but obviously stated that they wanted to improve all of this over time. It is an important thing to me to get the feel of inertia right, as I think it would improve controllability. As you say, even in the air, there seems to be a lack of inertia. The planes seem to bob about like paper planes sometimes and change direction too quickly. Some may disagree, but this is just my take on it. Certainly in FSX, P3D, and Xplane, the movement of the aircraft feels different. They accelerate into a change of direction when an impulse is applied, rather than just snap to it instantly. I still hope that roadmap next week will show big effort on core simulator. Likely because right after the AAU1 release pending very soon (which was the focus of the last dev Q&A), the next big drop from MS/Asobo is WU12 New Zealand in Feb so makes sense they'd tailor the next Q&A accordingly. I'm sure the consequent dev Q&As would focus on core sim stuff as SU 13 is slated for March. On a side note looking at this chart below makes me wonder what in the world they have coming as a "surprise" in Feb.. seems like the way the last row's header is worded that it would be core sim related as opposed to some add-on/entertainment content, fingers crossed. It will be interesting to see how A2A handle it. Apparently they will have a new version of Accusim or whatever they call it - basically their own code for flight behaviour and characteristics. Some, like the C414 don't feel to bad, but then others feel like paper planes. Maybe some of it is down to the learning curve for the developer on a 'new' system. January 27, 20233 yr Even after so many sim updates, the wind-shield rain/wiper effects are still unrealistic and horrible which is really an eye sore. Is fixing it so insurmountable that MS/Asobo is totally ignoring the issue?
