60 second pause is back, begging for help.

As for troubleshooting... sort the processes by name and scroll to Runtime Broker.  Watch it for CPU and RAM usage, and if it shows any usage changes every 60 sec.

And, based on the above post, are you using VR?

This I'm uncertain of how to do.  I was just going to shut down everything and sit with my iPad and try to learn ProcMon from that link.  Not using VR, it's not ticked in Steam, in fact I've never even wore a VR headset, I'd like to someday.

My guess is that you are going to find the culprit.

Start up without the extras... and turn off whatever looks suspicious..

The last screen shows you Including FlightSimulator.exe.. change that to Exclude.

That should remove a lot of the noise..

Will do.  I now have a list of things to do.

Disable Process Lasso.

Disable Runtime Broker.

Try to figure out ProcMon.

Thanks Bert and everyone else.

Seems like a modal app is causing the hangup.  The problem indicates a file lock / block or the internet is not responding or something in the security framework is blocking.

Also since this happened before consider bad memory or a bad drive sector.

Last but not least I get long pauses when I don't use my USB trackball for a while.

The thing I would be most concerned about is the XBOX gaming service.

I didnt read the whole thread but did you log an MSFS trackit?

Good luck with it.

Hi sp, I wish I even knew what modal app was.  You seem to be very knowledgeable in this, far above me that's for sure.

As for security, last summer I turned all security off, every last thing, I used some YT's to follow on how to do it.

And what is an MSFS trackit?

This is just in Task Manager... you know how..

Process tab, click on name, scroll down and observe.

A final approach might be what we did in business - called a scratch build. New Pc all new hardware with virgin OS / MSFS installs.

This will be your starting point.  Then slowly add your addons and peripherals monitoring along the way.  Hardcore yes but it works.

I get it but we could do that in business.

Disable Process Lasso startup launch.

Just did this.  It still does it, sadly.

Try disabling Runtime Broker in Task Manager.. it is known to potentially cause high CPU usage.

https://www.techbout.com/runtime-broker-high-cpu-usage-26832/

I did this and no help Bert.  Here's a couple of screenshots.  Why I have four iterations of it is puzzling to me.

During the pauses every 60 seconds I never saw Runtime Broker go above 0% usage, it could have but it happens so fast I might have missed it.

And this:  I don't know why there's so many iterations of Steam either.

Haven't got the time to look through this thread, so this might have already been posted.

Not sure if he fixed it, but at least he found out what it was. Apologies if this has already been posted.

He fixed it by disabling a process called SteamVR but I have never seen that process pop up in Task Manager's process tab.

Use Windows Task Manager ( CTRL+ALT+DELETE ) and see if there's a process called vrserver.exe running. If so, right click on it and end it. You never know...

I saw about several billion instances of this in ProcMon last night.  I'll take a look in Task Manager now.  Many thanks.

Looking as I type this on my iPad.  No entries of this in the Process tab.
