PMDG m737 Reverse thrust

Featured Replies

Anybody got an easy way to get reverse thrust working in the 737?

What kind of throttle?  Mine has a reverse range on the axis so I use FSUIPC to set the reverse range.  There is no in-sim throttle calibration utility like Fenix unfortunately.

I am using a Honeycomb Bravo Throttle and therefor you find a lot of vids to calibrate in the net ( youtube ) working very well here for me..

By the way:

Does it not work with the F2 key ( hold down ) shortcut ?

cheers 😉

I use the "reduce throttle" command for every airplane. After touchdown one click usually is enough to go from idle to idle reverse (and holding it for full reverse). Anything else doesn't work correctly without a dedicated reverse axis, at least for me.

EDIT: By default it's F2, I just put it on a button on my warthog throttle.

OK, I see this works differently from the Airbus. When I use Toggle Reverse Thrust on the Fenix and the Kodiak, it stays in reverse and the amount of throttle I apply then controls the amount of reverse. I see now with the 737 that when I hit F2 or I now have a button assigned, the reverse handles come up, but when I apply throttle, then the reverse handles go down, so in effect the reverse seems to be on full or off. I hope I got that right.

Yeah you can't really use the throttle for reverse unless you have a dedicated axis. Just use a button for reverse. You mostly go idle or full reverse either, so no need for granularity.

Send F2 and F1 Bob... it will work for you. Then the more you press F2 (via button or repeat) the more Reverse Thrust you get.  As soon as you press F1 (button) you're back to idle.

What is F1 assigned to?

I managed to take off on my first VA flight in the 737, and about halfway KSEA to KBZN.  Learning as I go. So far, nothing has broken.

Correct.  Different logic than the Airbus.  On the Boeing the reverse levers independently control reverse when the throttle are at idle.  Applying throttle nullifies the reversers.  The reverse levers are like their own little throttles in a sense...

I was just in BZN the other day. Great area to fly in. Snow all around but the valley and airport were clear the other day. Beautiful.

In FSUIPC I have F2 set to Button Press with the repeat keypress option and F1 set to button release for the button I have assigned to reverse on the throttle.

Mimics Reverse on/off pretty well but hard to do an idle or half reverse it's either on or off...

One more question. I remember a setting so that you could tell where your throttle was set and match it when AT is turned off. Does anyone know where in the MCP that setting is?

If you have a spare button on your throttle you can use it as "HOLD THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST", so when you hold the button you can use

your throttle axis for reverser. I use it on a Hotas  Warthog and it works like a charm with the PMDG or the Fenix.
