When we are no longer "flying on rails", 30 fps simply make the whole experience different and wrong. The way a thermal 'feels' and the way you reacting to thermals and wind changes on landing is simply different. The whole experience is much more...faster... ? March 7, 20233 yr I spent an hour this morning locked at 30 and then 60 and then unlimited. On my system there was NO discernible difference (except for a 24 degree hike in GPU temps). I've tried this experiment a hundred times and always reach the same conclusion - the internet is wrong 😉 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

The certification of the Level D simulator requires the frame rate to be locked at 60. There is a reason for this. If you can not notice a difference, fine for you. However there IS a difference. It's like putting my wife in my sports car, she wont notice a difference from her usual run around whilst driving it, getting her from A to B. However, someone that knows what they are doing will notice a massive difference. Flying at 60FPS or above is more fluid, more responsive. Thats a fact. It is not opinion. It is fact.
March 7, 20233 yr It is your fact, not mine. (😉) 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

(movement is key right, when simulating flight) Frames per second tell you how fast the image on your screen changes, so a higher frame rate means things will look smoother and more fluid. In short, 30 fps means that 30 still images will be shown every second, while 60 fps means that 60 still images will be shown every second. <<< This is not my opinion, it is a fact. I would say drop it... its an old and hopeless lost battle 🙂 If they enjoy 30 fps and lower GPU temp, i say enjoy. I know i would never ever go to flying below 60 fps. Not to mention i use Tobii for headtracking and anything below 57 fps is a big no no for me and for my stomach 🙂 MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28

March 7, 20233 yr All these driving references - I don't get it? BTW, I don't drive so they are lost on me 😶 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

(100% serious). Do you have any links with more information on this? I know the old 24fps thing is based on old tech. but I didn't know there was a hard and fast number (60fps) that is set in stone.

So, I wonder what they are using now if they were using 60 FPS back then. Edited March 7, 20233 yr by Ianrivaldosmith
