I've been using ProATC for maybe 10 years now.  It's like a comfortable pair of shoes: Gets you where you're going.  Sure it has a few quirks (like the British pilot voice who can't pronounce Minneapolis 😀but I kinda love it. There was always dramas going on on the forums but the few times I asked a question, the folks over there would always respond and they were actually really helpful.  It's the best ATC add-on for me and I wish the dev and the folks who support the community all the best.

I haven't used Pro ATC  in years. I used to be a beta tester for it years ago, and in fact one of the controller voices is mine. I played a review video just now, and it seems it is more polished than it used to be. However, I too a look at their forum and I see what should be really easy questions to answer, posted  almost two months ago with zero replies.  Nothing much has changed, I guess.

Long as you don't mind spending  most of your time talking to Unicomm.

Yeah, you're right, but it was very efficient and intuitive so I always forgave it for sounding like a robot on steroids!

I suspect you both are thinking of VATC's included VoxPop voices. 3rd party TTS voices are much preferred.

for now, cheers

Last week I decided to see how my 'flightsimminglife' woud be without addons. I was surprised to see I could do well without most (like Navigraph). However... after a few days of using default ATC I went totally crazy and quickly reinstalled FSHud. Phew... what a relieve to use that one again. Highly recommended. If you don't like interfaces that make you feel you are drowning, get FSHud. Extremely easy to setup and use and it works like a charm. ((Well, specially f you are into flying SimBrief IFR plans, that is.)

BTW If I really feel the need to check out a SID or STAR or whatever I can always start Little NavMap: it's free and totally awesome. Afaik Aivlasoft EFB doesn't have actual CHARTS of procedures (apart from an approach sideview) and hence I do wonder why you would need that EFB if you can have LNM for free. Yes, the EFB has easier options to quickly setup a plan (afaik it does some preselecting for you) but since most people (or at least I myself) use SimBrief that's not a real advantage. LNM is GREAT for the occasional 'chart'-checking and previewing. And completely free.

You would really need to download the free Aivlasoft EFB v2 trial and revise your statement as it is incorrect. A simple visit to their site  will clarify this matter

SIDs, STARs, IFR approaches are all indeed available and easy to use with descent profiles. You would need a simple Navigraph FMS subscription to keep it up-to-date.

You are entitled to prefer one software versus another (in your case LNM), but it is unfair to spread false information.

Er... don't really know what that has to do with LNM being free...?

Well, I searched for screenshots of Aivlasoft EFB SID and STAR charts but couldn't find any. I rather not install software on my clean machine just to check this. 😉 I asked for screenshots before but didn't really get them. What I did see is similar to what I get with LNM. I didn't see EFB charts that were similar to Navigraph charts.

EDIT
O, my bad, I do see a picture of a departure 'chart' on the Aivlasoft site but that's not really a chart. That is similar to what LNM of the map from Navigraph shows. It's not an actual chart.

EDIT 2
And btw I don't think you really need a Navigraph subscription to use EFB: afaik it can also read the default MSFS data?

My Navigraph subscription came up for renewal a couple of weeks ago. I hadn’t been told the price and searching the site also showed no renewal price.

I raised a topic and they admitted the price isn’t shown. But here’s the killer. FMS subscriptions for new customers are not allowed. The only option is Charts which is much more expensive.

They honour existing subscribers after a serious reaction to them trying to push everyone to Charts a few years ago. They had to backtrack and keep that option open for existing subscribers.

I’ve been using EFB with monthly FMS updates for years. The beauty of EFB is you can use it with any aircraft.

@tup61, I’m still using P3D but whilst EFB can read default data there will be an increased number of inconsistencies as runway IDs change, ILS frequencies change, VORs change. Aivlasoft keep their data up to date so for consistency the user must do the same.

The departure and approach are assembled to your routing by the EFB, it is not a standalone chart and/or and approach plate as in Navigraph similar to a Jeppesen's. If this is what you want for your simulation, then only Navigraph can provide that (or a download of real charts from official sites).

The function of Aivlasoft EFB is to create and show a complete rendition of your routing from your departure point to your arrival gate or parking, which you can manage as you see fit, change waypoints, SIDs, STARs etc... You can also, if you wish show all the high and low IFR routings in addition to your own if you want to have the impression of looking at a real chart, all that will do is clutter your screen with unnecessary information.

Without going to a full description of the product, it offers much more than charts, as suggested before, you could have a good look at the free trial, its easy to install and uninstall if you definitely don't like it (it is not interfering with your MSFS installation as it is installed outside MSFS, thus won't damage anything if you choose to opt out..)

Good luck.

Wow... so... I just cancelled my Navigraph Ultimate subscription: what if I decide to take a navadata only subscription later on...? Will I be able to get that done since I am an existing (or by then old) customer? I didn't see an option to change my ultimate subscription into a navdata only one...

But anyway, concerning the EFB: I thought you had to create a database manually and so it will read whatever the sim is using...? I didn't know Aivlasoft keeps their own data up to date? If so, how do they do that? But anyway (again): the default MSFS gets updates very frequently, unlike P3D, so using default data for the EFB with MSFS shouldn't be a problem. The ONLY problem that can arise with MSFS is when you use SimBrief and the AIRAC used there becomes old.

You’ll need to ask Navigraph about your options. There is no ”data only” option now. That’s the FMS one I subscribe to. Charts is your best option. But see what they say.

A database is created in EFB but as well as reading your data they also use their own up-to-date info. So, for instance, when LPPT runways recently changed 03/21 became 02/20. That was shown in EFB even if your own scenery still had 03/21. Unless you updated yours with a Navigraph update there would be no SIDs and STARs available.

I don’t know how they do it but kudos to them for keeping data correct.
