April 5, 20233 yr Since approx Christmas I have seldom been able to complete a flight without a CTD. Attempted corrective actions include multiple reinstalls, flying right after a install with no add-ons, moving it to another drive, the list goes on. I've lost track of the hours trouble shooting. Something is wrong here and I doubt I'm the only one. Sorry i sunk as much money as I did into add-ons. The only thing left is when my new CPU arrives (7950x3d) I'll be blowing everything off and doing a fresh Windows install.
April 5, 20233 yr That is very frustrating. I hope the new cpu and mobo fixes things. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 5, 20233 yr Good luck easy to understand it's time to depart until something major changes for you. Hopefully other hardware besides your CPU is up to snuff as well. Had you already done a reinstall of Windows and MSFS? Sometimes that pathway is far more useful that trial and error troubleshooting. April 5, 20233 yr Author After eliminating most common potential problems the only guess i have left is perhaps a Windows update might have caused some problems somewhere. Honestly I'm just throwing darts at the wall at this point. Manure happens.
April 5, 20233 yr So so what changed for you at xmas ?, PC wise i mean , have you moved it , changed any hardware etc ? April 5, 20233 yr After flying for years with nearly no CTDs (the very rare ones could be isolated being caused by certain addons) I keep getting CDTs after ~45-60 min into a flight as well during the last weeks. Windows reports "nvwgf2umx.dll" being the culprit, being no unknown in the field. Might be the most recent Nvidia drivers. This is a brand-new machine, though, and I am not really amused. Not parking the sim at this point, but I'll have to investigate. April 5, 20233 yr Author Michael, My CTD are usually after 45 minutes as well and usually on decent though at times it happens before reaching cruising altitude. I totally understand your lack of amusement at the situation. Sonny, As to hardware changes I recently upgraded my almost 5 year old GPU (2080 8gig) to to a 7900xt (20gig). I have been wondering if that might be tied in somehow but after researching I have not yet come across a comment linking it to CTD. Actually, other than the MSFS issue the performance of this GPU is excellent. There's no problem with P3dV5 or XP11/12.
April 5, 20233 yr Do you have something recurrent in the Windows Event Viewer? Sometimes this might help. Unfortunately, even in the official forum, there are very few reports linking CTSs, even with a certain faulting module, to a definite source. April 5, 20233 yr One more option maybe. I you have Geforce Experience installed, try and remove it from you system. I recently hat CTD on basically every flight. Removing GE solved it. April 5, 20233 yr Author Hi, Twenty6, no, it’s sold now. I was surprised how strong the market is for used hardware. Luis, I haven’t changed those settings. Thanks for the ideas.
