You're supposed to go to bed during a long haul flight.

Absolutely, a good time to show one's sweetheart that there is not only flight simulation in your life.

CATIII procedures are not just for bad visibility in this sim.

737 BBJ 1 out-ranges A310 and 767-300ER.

6000+ nm range & 12+ hrs endurance?

all I really “need” beyond that is PMDGs 747-8i

I've hid posts that talk about other simulators.  No reason for that here.  This thread is about long haul airplanes in msfs.

The title of this thread is both misleading and wrong.

1. 787 Heavy Division Mod
2. 747 Salty's Mod

both should tide you over until something more in depth (possibly AAU2 for the 787) comes (or, rather, flies) along.

As others have said, the BBJ and the A310 and the A320Neo can also do "medium" long haul.

You have to wonder how in a hurry developers are to devote time to long haul planes when most simmers just want to do 1-2 hour hops domestically from pretty airport to pretty airport.

Not saying there's anything wrong with long haul in a sim, but it's a niche within a niche.

It's a bigger niche than you think it is.  I'm not a huge long haul guy personally.  But many others are.  Not to mention the people who still operate long haul planes on short haul routes.  Some of these routes are fictional, but many are not.

My guess is that most of the long haulers, start a flight on autopilot, then go shopping, or watch a couple of movies, or go to bed, set the sim to pause at top of descent, return to the PC 8 hours later and land. I just don't get it??

I used to do that, but, with current energy prices, increasing the sim rate during cruise is a very cost-effective and eco-friendly sin.

Any VA I have ever flown with, wouldn't let you do that.
