April 20, 20233 yr It may have ultimately been a failure, but what a sight! The fact that they managed to get nearly 40kms high will provide SpaceX with huge amounts of data that they can use to improve the reliability of the rocket. April 20, 20233 yr Author Just now, Christopher Low said: It may have ultimately been a failure, Nope, very successful. Before the launch Elon said if it doesn't generate a fireball that melts the pad its a success. It did better than expected. As you rightly say Chris, the data gathered is invaluable and will render the next launch in a couple of months even more successful. Incredible to see 33 Raptors all firing in synchrony, and the delay, the delay before it started moving was nail biting. Must have been at least 4 seconds after the Raptors ignited before it started moving. If the pad had been destroyed it would have been a significant setback, so yes, all in all a great result.

I heard that was basically their goal: clearing the tower. They were considering anything beyond T-10 minutes a success. Let's see their findings. 1 minute ago, martin-w said: Incredible to see 33 Raptors all firing in synchrony I only saw 28 of them, sometimes 29. I thought it was because SpaceX would light them after Max-Q. April 20, 20233 yr This is why we don't put people on this sort of test flight. It did make it off the pad, seems something went wrong when it came time for the primary booster to separate. I'm sure a whole lot was learned today, next test may be 100% successful. Time will tell.
