May 16, 20233 yr Seems like an interesting question since IMO MSFS does alot of things right. My answer to the question then is the franchise brings in so many third parties that it is now the most formidable flight sim for growth. Just the fact that ASOBO / Microsoft have latched onto an owned platform with only growth in the future. I'm sticking around to watch. sp

May 16, 20233 yr Everything Aviation within the limits of today's technology: 1. Bush Flying 2. Airliner 3. Corporate 4. Military (Flying Fighter Jets in VR is amazing) ATC/AI is a sore spot but better than any alternative out there. We need an add-on option that can do away with the default models (Asobo can help with this) and display what live ATC is calling for (airline and accurate models for flights). Adding traffic offline should not be the only option. I can't think of a certain aspect of MSFS that better, it's all good.😏 FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
May 16, 20233 yr More than anything else - MSFS brought flight simming back to the mainstream. P3D, XP and DCS were good for the hardcore simmer but if you just wanted to get started these programs are very daunting. Put someone new in front of a P3D launch screen ( or XP and don’t even bother with DCS) and they would have no idea what to do next. And those games practically require you to figure out the complex world of third party products, understand what’s good or bad… it was a lot of work. MSFS is by far the most approachable sim, and has lots of on ramps for new players - while still having enough depth to satisfy the hardcore simmer. There’s nothing else like that. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
May 16, 20233 yr Just now, JonathanC said: More than anything else - MSFS brought flight simming back to the mainstream You beat me to it by a few minutes! Not only did it provide a good onramp for people who haven't been simming since the 80s, but it also popularized flight sims in a way never before seen. Just look at all the mid and low-tier controllers that've come out since MSFS was announced. Before, if you wanted a joystick you either had to pay less than $50 for a piece of junk, around $100 for a halfway decent stick that might, if you're lucky, last you 4 years, or pay astronomical prices and wait forever to get a hand-built god-tier stick. Now we have Honeycomb, Turtle Beach (really should be Turtle Beech 😉 ), etc making products that give you a lot of controller for not all that much money (though Honeycomb jumped the shark with the Alpha XPS, unfortunately). I haven't seen people this excited about flight simming since never. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

And I wish MSFS adds proper force feedback support and prompts the development of new FFB sticks. I have a 20+ year old FFB sidewinder and it’s still the best flight joystick I’ve used. The lack of automatic cantering is amazing. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
May 16, 20233 yr Many would disagree, but group flights would have to be on the list. There is something satisfying and serene about being in a crowd of 30 or more gliders, while focusing on the event's task, managing your energy state, gawking at the terrain below, all while constantly strategizing. You don't just compete against yourself, you compete against 30 other minds. Very engaging, never an unoccupied moment. Every moment brings another wager.

Such a fabulous joystick and so far ahead of its time. It was like the feeling of feedback was better than the graphics!
