Shoutout to Jonathan Beckett reviews

Featured Replies

He may not be new for many of you, but I only recently came across his reviews and really like his calm delivery and thorough, balanced style.

He seems to have a standard format (for the GA reviews I’ve seen) covering model, startup / shutdown, ground handling, pattern, navigation, climb / turn performance, stalls and spins etc.

If you haven’t already caught his stuff, what are you waiting for?!

Yep, Mr. Beckett is one of about six MSFS contributors who I regularly watch.

Same here, his stuff is actually watchable, unlike 99% of the rest of the tubbers.

Thx for the hint schotch, will check during morning coffee tomorrow 🤓

Indeed, his quick start for the 737 from cold and dark was the beginning of my addiction with her. Concise and to the point with the necessary explanations without veering into much wasted time. Very accessible for the ‘average’ simmer.

Thinking about it more, I find the combination of Jonathan Beckett and Into The Blue works well. Jonathan will give a comprehensive overview and, if you are still interested in purchasing the aircraft, ITB will go further into more depth and detail.

And then CGAviator to see if it’s fun as well.

Also, don't forget that he posts quick start-up guides to most of this videos. These are really helpful for getting a start on a new addon plane.

At the beginning you just want to now where the hydraulic pumps 1 and 2 are instead of getting a muuddled and rambling 20 minute lecture on the history of hydraulics.

I also like the fact that his videos aren't "cinematic" and that he leaves in his mistakes and errors.
