FS11 Wish List

Featured Replies

1) Water droplet/density data in clouds to enable realistic weather radars from 3rd parties2) Increased light sources - so that at least the landing lights illuminate objects3) Independant engine simulations so that each runs at differing values (rather than being mimiced)4) More realistic atmosphere/enviroment simulation - haze decreasing view distance and greying out ground colour5) Cockpit shadowing as standard (optional to disable)6) Better built in pushback feature allowing for a distance/heading or graphical position to be enteredAll for now anyway :)

One thing I forgot. I would like better lighting for some of the gauges (especially the compass) because a lot of the small planes I can't see the compass very well. The mooney is great.

I would hope that ACES would develop FS11 to be compatible with current hardware on the market at time of release. In other words, don't develop FS11 to be future proof as far as future hardware is concerned. This makes no sense at all to do this for a simulator that is updated with a new release every 3 to 4 years. Develop today for hardware available today, and then develop in 3 to 4 years for hardware that will be available then. If you released a new Flight Simulator every 5 to 8 years, I could see the reasoning behind developing it to be future-proof as far as hardware is concerned.I believe the developers have fell into the trap of developing inefficient software, and then just explaining the it away by saying that future hardware that is coming out within the next few years will run their software fine. The bottom line is that the software is simply inefficient. Fix It!!! I am not trying to flame here, but this is my opinion of what happened with FSX (and FS9 to a certain extent in the early days). I do think ACES is onto this idea, and something tells me that they learned alot from the troubles they experienced with FSX. If they haven't, they are going to kill the sales of their next flight simulator at release time. People like me will simply delay their purchase of FS11 for at least 18 to 24 months because that is how long it takes to get things cleaned up for average users.

I will keep my wish list short.First, Yes better ATC and weather.Second, How about a cold and dark cockpit each time with an a/c checklist?Third, When you crash (and boy have I), things should fall off and there should be smoke and fire/flames. Nothing says pooched landings like seeing your a/c tires rolling away.Hitting a building etc and just having your a/c freeze in mid-air is too cartoonist.Last, Make the sim compatable with todays hardward. FSX let alot of people down in that regard.Thank you.Ernest(If you fly by the seat of your pants - hold on to your pitot tube)

I can't believe I read the whole thing...In the Spirit of K.I.S.S., what I want most is shared cockpit working on complex payware aircraft. That would require better SDK tools and and instructions for devs to get the most out of them...Best Regards, Donald T. :-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.

My main issue I have with FSX is that it's too buggy. I've ran into more CTDs and glitch issues with FSX than I have with any previous flight simulator. (And yes, I keep up-to-date with the latest and greatest hardware and its drivers). This is also the first time that ACES released two service packs for a single flight simulator. Granted, the service packs improve performance and fix a few issues but with a larger, more thorough beta testing team testing the next flight simulator across a wide range of hardware configurations, two service pack releases shouldn't be necessary. My NUMBER ONE request is that FS11 is beta tested more thoroughly and on a wider range of hardware configurations using a much larger beta testing team.

I would like to add a few specifics in terms of the glitches I've experienced in FSX that I hope will be fixed in FS11 (in no particular order):1. Jet engines fan blades don't stop spinning after shutting down the engines on default aircraft. (I don't know about third-party aircraft.)2. Engine noise is occasionally heard on jet aircraft even though engines are shut down.3. Screen occasionally flashes white when tooltips are enabled while mousing over 2D panel.4. GPS500 MSG 'click-n-hold to disable MSG' function is broken.5. Lights on aircraft no longer illuminate the aircraft. (Advanced users may be able to fix this issue by editing/creating light-mask texture files.)6. CTDs while accessing menus in FSX:Accel. (Though, this may be an nVidia issue.)7. When flying a mission and then returning to the opening screen to then fly in free-flight mode, certain options such as the ability to adjust aircraft fuel, aircraft location, or weather are disabled and the mission successful/failure message still appears on screen.8. When flying in multiplayer mode, then returning to the opening screen to fly in free-flight mode, certain options are disabled such as the ability to move the aircraft location or adjust the weather.9. There is now no way to erase the flight plan other than to edit the saved flight files.10. FSX now no longer saves a previous flight file upon exiting the simulator. These are the most annoying glitches that I would hope to be fixed in FS11.

I havent read this whole thread so I dont know if this is in there...'dynamic animations' would be cool if it were possible. The other day they opened flood gates at Glen Canyon dam and I thought it would be cool if there were 'dynamic animations' that were like real world weather but having to do with fires and floods and volcanoes and snowstorms and even planned events like opening flood gates at a major dam. I can see where weather simulators might be able to include the floods and snowstorms effects. perhaps FTX has included these things already. I'll have to find that out.I dont know how the other things would work other than having someone collecting news events and creating an ongoing script database to run the animations.Maybe some third party developer with knowledge, time, interest and all the other things needed might do that some day. I think it would be cool.

|   Dave   |    I've been around for most of my life.

There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.

Here's mine:1) Better transitions. For example, going in and out of clouds is not at all realistic. Another example: ascending or descending into varying winds aloft -- which in FSX causes a 20 degree heading shift in FSX that would in all likelihood in reality rip your tail rudder off. Not at all realistic. Transitions SHOULD BE SLOWER - not INSTANT.2) Cockpit weather radar on the EHSI on at least 1 or more default turbojet transport aircraft.3) A fully functional FMC on at least 1 (preferably more) turbojet transport aircraft. Perhaps a "check box" if you want the complex version of an aircraft vs. a simple version (with no FMC like the default Boeings now).4) Landing and strobe lights reflecting back to the pilot. On a previous version of FS, the strobes were visible upon cloud penetration. Not in FSX.5) Snow & ice on the windscreen. Anti-ice should clear the ice, if the plane has it. If it doesn't, continued ice buildup should result in realistic flight conditions.6) Cloud shadows (on the ground)7) Clouds: you should NOT be able to see so easily through an overcast layer. Not realistic.8) Better ATC.and9) More emphasis on "artistry" and less on computer programming. For one, air is not a solid medium. The flight models need to be better. Another example: more time should be spent making the views look more realistic. The programmers at ACES can obviously do the necessary programming required to create the sim. There needs to be more attention paid to the artestry of it all to make it more like the real world. That's my 2 cents.

Guns and missiles :D

From an add-on designer's point of view:Full XML access to all token variables (I think some aren't available yet)Full XML access to all eventsImproved spb format with no ability to read the secrets insideSome kind of copy / theft protection for add-on product (like access to hardware parameter to allow individual product registration)A tool to test gauges outside FSAnd for the learners: Simple examples how to create gauges, dlls, (several one-gauge-examples, like a light switch, VSI or similar and then some more complex things)_______Herbert

I want to see one thing. Ice on lakes where it makes sense. That would be nice. Mind you it would be nice to see snow and rain affecting takeoffs and such.I have no problems with no backwards compatibility. Rewrite the engine if you need too and improve it. I have a feeling they've had to hold back certain improvements to bend to those wishing to keep everything compatible. How long has it been since there was a fresh start? I can't remember the last time nothing was portable to the new version. In fact take 4 years from the release of FSX and write it from square one. I'm sure it's a major undertaking but I betcha there would be shortcuts to improve fps, quality and compatibility found. On the other hand, I'm not complaining because I absolutely love every version of FS since I started back on FS2. It's been a great ride and I can't wait for another 20 years of it.

Just one for me: Airport vehicles should YIELD to airplanes. Currently the airplane has to yield to the airport vehicles.I haven't been on in a long time because I've just gotten a new computer that can now run FS X (yeah:) ). If anyone has a fix (besides lowering the slider) please let me know.Thanks.
