FS11 Wish List

Whatever improvements are made, please keep the program realistically operative with the gaming computer system that is current at the time, and honestly state the computer requirements.I especially like the the suggestions for ATC handling of traffic, spacing of aircraft to reduce go-arounds and use of all airport runways as appropriate to conditions.ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX (SP1-SP2), Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor

I want 3d snow and rain effects. yes, it would be a pain to run it, but it would sure look nice. (something like, you can see snow falling infron and behind an object) the current snow and rain affects are terrible. oh and clouds that look like the ones in real environment X, and a bunch of other things, but they can all be summed up with one thing:I'd like FS11 to be more realistic :( (in terms of graphics)

More Missions!!!! Just kidding.

Now I must admit you've suggested an option that the ACES had not even considered until now:A bird cr*p/bug splat slider with settings ranging from 'Occasional' to 'Turn on darn Windshield Wipers'.ROTFLMAO!-Rick

It was fun to re-read this yet again unearthed thread :)Now, when Aces have "closed the door", and presumably are working hard with a solidified FS11 feature list, all we can do is guesstimate how many items from this thread will make it to vNext or vNext+1. My sense is that a majority of non-rendering performance issues raised here (more complex flight dynamics, smarter AI/ATC, more realistic weather, etc) could have been solved by supporting the fully scalable distributed computations, so as several sub-models and sub-algorithms could be offloaded to any CPUs the user has at home, including multi-cores and external resources like old PCs and laptops. This is similar to a manner how many of us now run FS on main PC and a GPS and other FSUIPC software on a laptop. However, I won't hold my breath, and I just wish Aces will at least improve multi-core support meaning the complexity and fluidness of simulation should exponentially increase with number of installed cores on a machine. In retrospect, this "wishlist" thread, and similar ones we had for FSX FS9, etc. can offer a good view of the "community effect" on a progress of the franchise. I wish someone could compile a table with all items we wished to be done, cross-checked with the last 3-5 Microsoft releases, where each cell shows whether a feature has been implemented or improved, in a particular release. I think, this would be a good quantitative indication of the feedback Aces receive from Avsim users, and a measure to predict what issues need to and might be addressed in the next version.Cheers, =S.V.=CPU: Intel Core2Duo E4500 2x2.2Ghz, 1GbGPU: nVidia Quadro FX 3400 256 MbOS: WinXP(SP2) FS: FSX(SP2) MP: http://www.FSEconomy.com

>WARNING: VERY LONG POST BELOW, if you don't feel like reading>please skip to the next post. Thanks.>>Okay, where do I begin?>Allow me to stray for a while and describe my version of a>perfect FS dream...>>I double-click the FS1x icon,...........................>...............That's all I can think of right now.>Thanks for your patience & sorry for the long post.Wow, what great scenario!! I might even get into flying heavies with this kind of interface and this would be awesome with GA or even bush flying. I vote yes for this as well!!Regards, MichaelKDFW

I also just re-read the entire thread.I think better ATC was a huge request. I hope they don't go to multiplayer based ATC completely. VATSIM has its place. But the in-game ATC needs a lot of work. Here's a few specific things I've been collecting and observing through my experience with FSX, and my job as a real world controller:Sequencing..."Cleared to land ry xx, #2, follow xyz base to final" etcAbility to land if traffic ahead is minimum distance down the rwy (Same Runway Separation)Taxi to intersectionsmore accurate airports (taxiway structure)PHRASEOLOGY!!! "Taxi to and hold short of...no need for it"Emergencies... ER vehicles come to you or other ai acftNo 30 mile finals at small airports, traffic permitting of course!!Ability to dial in frequencies and rqst inbound landing without pressing associated KB key in ATC menu....ie call approach (or tower for arpts without TRSA or radar facilities) and say inbound for XYZ airport.Rqst another runway regardless of active rwy or length (PIC hehe)Stop saying "Cessna N12345," and replace with either N12345, or Cessna 12345Make use of "traffic not in sight"SVFR's, VFR on tops, and Contact approachesWake turbulence advisorieshelicopter AI trafficMilitary patterns, ie Overhead/SFO/ELP's etc

Great Idea:"A tool to test gauges outside FSAnd for the learners: Simple examples how to create gauges, dlls, (several one-gauge-examples, like a light switch, VSI or similar and then some more complex things)"An example would be to simplify the development of a VC. The SDK could provide a "tub". This tub could be stretched to fit the inside of the aircraft model, allow placing of instruments, controls and displays using drag and drop from a list of what is available on default aircraft, and make the necessary connections to activate the item. This way we all could do VCs, even in models which don't have them. Since ACES is already re-doing the engine, why not include this capability. Thanks for listening

Hi, all!I would appreciate if FS11 would have a tool that identifies any changes made to FS11 default files. When you run this tool, all differences should be logged to a file, where you may examine what default files have been changed, replaced or deleted. An option should be to identify the differences compared to your last run of this tool. This tool would be very helpful when you install add ons, that do change default files or when uninstallers don't restore original files or even remove files that shouldn't be removed. I had my fx_2.bmp removed from the Effectstexture after uninstalling a couple of add ons. I've got no idea what uninstaller that played this dirty trick on me.Ulf B

How about a way to restore the original files w/o the need to reinstall the product ? I know, the original file could come from a service pack, so the restore tool would need to have a catalog of files and where to retrieve them from like e.g. from one of the product DVDs, an expansion pack, a service pack ...In the best case there would be no need to replace default files. The need to replace/modify default files sounds as if there is a need to give 3rd party developers even more flexibility than what they have today.CheersSiggy

Ok, another one from me :-), while I am at it.Anyone else interested in seeing motor gliders/sail planes ?A winch start facility would be nice too.(For the latter there seems to be a trick on how to do this in FSX :-):Call the tow plane, go into slew mode, move back a kilometre or so and then release slew mode. (Not my idea, found this here: http://forum.flightxpress.net/index.php?pa...threadID=9731))Cheers,Siggy

Siggy,Of course I wan't default FS11 files to be replaced. But I wan't to be in the drivers seat all the way. GEX is an excellent example of how it should be done by an installer/configurator tool. The problem isn't the replacement or changing of default files. The problem is when an installer/configurator changes files and there are no backupfiles and/or documentation describing what files that are altered/replaced.I don't need a restore utility. I have a prestine backup of my original FSX Acc/SP2 install, so I had no problem restoring the file. The problem is to identify what files are changed/replaced removed by what add on installer or uninstaller.Ulf B

I all honesty, I haven't read thru the WHOLE thread (it's huge) so someone else might have cracked this idea before. Well, here goes ...One thing I believe would be awesome is the ability to "time stamp" the planes and environment. Allow me to explain...When you select a date/time, say "june 6 1955", for your flight the sim would adjust itself, filtering the list of airplanes to present ONLY planes/airlines that existed that day. This would affect the environment as well: Navaids would reflect the technology of the time (and harder to find) forcing the pilot to use the navigation aids of the day. Available airways would be adjusted to reflect the selected period and so on. ATC rules would be different. An so on.Of course, scenery modellers would be able to utilize the feature and build scenery files that could also be filtered for a time period. Airports could be published to reflect their 1955 look and so on. Not only would it be possible to model and market an airport, the same product could be offered in multiple versions to reflect different eras. Possibly, even individual structures/buildings could be time stamped in this way. This, I believe, would make for a great sim that REALLY would allow us to fly back in the day (or, possibly, in the future) adding yet another facet to a great product! Probably, it's technically "pretty challenging" tho... ;O)Cheers/Jonas
