How about, "I wish this thread would die?" :(
Aaaaargh !!! It just did.
  • 1 month later...
  • Working Windshield Wipers
  • Free NAV database upgrades if possible
  • Better landclass and scenery tiles for remote areas
  • Smoother changes with altimeter and temperature
  • Shader Model 4.0 Technology (exp. Unified Shaders, DX10, geometry shaders, better rain, water, volumetric, etc. effects*Virtual Earth

People, if we want the new team of developers to listen and make this the best one yet, we have to post all our wishes here, and keep this thread at the top, because they know this forum very well. Some FSX developers have accounts here.

it would seem PSS isn't the only Phoenix rising again :(

What is ...the minimum distance vertically and horizontally from a cloud when flying VFR in Class C airspace.
In which country?

In which country?
USA (FAA and FARs) :(. It's very easy. The guy was too ashamed to answer I guess :(.

i know this has been added on in add on airportsbut to have hangers that actualy open in airports! and varied in size good from everything from a piper j3 to a 747

May be, like me, he isn't in the USA and so regards the FAA and its FARs as being irrelevent to his flying as they are to mine.

True, True. I just wanted to show him that I am not someone that goes in F/A18 in FSX for a few hours, asking why FSX does not allow planes to shoot. I would also never EVER buy a flight simulator for the Xbox 360. I wanted to show him if those rain effects on the last page are possible on a 3.2 GHz tri-core processor with 512MB of ram shared between the system and video card, and a 500 MHz card (which is not a high frequency, compared to cards today), then it definitely possible on a normal, gaming PC, and consoles are basically limited use computers anyway. Here are those PGR4 rain videos, done in real time, on the 360; no lie. The Xbox 360 is not that powerful compared to many PCs today, so I know its possible. The graphics are simply stunning nonetheless. I have a 360 and PGR4, and the graphics the 360 can produce are amazing, especially at 1080p. The rain effects are very realistic and amazing as well.
The water droplets on the car body, rendered beautifully, are kinda hard to see in the video below. Sorry about this. I will see if I can get a screenshot up sometime.
NOTE: PGR4 is not work in progress anymore as the video above states. It was released in 2007.This video below is a great example of the rain effects (although it's not raining. hint hint.. check wish list below). If anyone knows the Microsoft Flight Sim Development team, or PTaylor well, please tell them about this thread! It would be great to be assured they know about this.
Some features that many people and I would like from the video above.
  • An effect in which the ground stays wet (reflections) for a certain amount of time after precipitation in the sim, depending on if the rain is light, medium, heavy, etc.
  • 0:27 in video above. Look at how the environment is reflected on the ground. The ground is wet, but it diffuses the light a bit, giving it a blurred look. Would be a great feature to have
  • Look at the ground textures. That is what I call high quality, pause during any view close to the ground and you can see the cracks that black pavement (asphult?) on even the best roads have. It wold be nice to have it
  • The lights on most aircraft should have a bluish tint to them, or at least no yellow. This is because of HID, Xeon, LED lights, that many aircraft have.
  • 0:57-1:04 of the video. I feature I like very much and is very realistic. When the ground is wet in real life or it is raining and people have their lights on, the light reflects onto the ground, and diffuses a bit. I can't explain it well, its almost like the rays of the lights extend into the ground in real life and in this video. This would be a great feature, and something so small make customers very happy and put them in awe.
  • Rain effects on the windshield, in which rain droplets are like in PGR4. Clear, and rolling up the window when moving, or down when stationary. Even if the rain droplets weren't as good as PGR4 and near FS9, it would be good and realistic.
  • In the last post I stated if there could be wipers. If there are wipers, it would be nice to have an effect like PGR4, where the area in which the wiper passes has less rain or no rain at all. With little streaks if possible. Remember if its possible on the 360 its possible on the PC :(
  • Weather smoothing - FSX did a great job smoothing the build up of clouds. (Weather changes over time option in the menu) It would be nice if precipitation could be smoothed, instead of an abrupt stop. Maybe rain could phase out slowly over a period of seconds or minutes, decreasing in intensity. Or when moving into rain, the intensity of rain could increase slowly.
  • Don't know if anyone has seen snow in PGR4, but when its snowing maybe you can use the rain effects on windows, but instead it will look like a snowflake (sharper, with sides, and a white.)

Things other than weather effects....---------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Better propeller effects. Particularly on the smoothness of the blurring effect, especially when changing RPMs
  • Better tire and weight effects. No more airplane wheels sinking into the ground to simulate the bottom of the tire flattening, especially when braking.
  • Better lighting effects. 3D Like. Look at a PGR4 video at night on youtube for example. All objects light up, not just the ground.
  • Air gets lighted up (exp. Shockwave 3D Lights, but better if possible)
  • Better grass. Maybe randomly placed flowers on grass?
  • Wind smoothing, no more wind changing from 360 degrees to 150 in less than a second.
  • More streets being recognized, and maybe green highway signs with writing or no writing (whichever is easier) on them, to make them more realistic.
  • Make the hangars able to open up. So we can store aircraft. I know I keep referencing to PGR4 but it has so many great features. In PGR4 you have a "garage" in which all of your cars are stored. The view is first person and it allows you to walk around the garage and see what things you have in it, and admire your car with the bright lights reflecting off of it. Maybe you can do that with the hangars?
  • Make the runway textures and the area surrounding more realistic. One day in England in FSX i saw something I liked very much, and wondered why it was not on most of the US grass, dirt, gravel, etc runways. What I saw was an airfield, with little orange cones placed near the runway, to indicate where the runway was. This is what I see in many aviation pics, and if the next FS could have an option to turn on cones for general aviation (GA) fields, that would be awesome. Example: http://mesawood.info/airpark/runway.jpg (It's hard to see but look at the beginning of the grass runway)
  • Runway slopes that are smooth. I think they can definitely be smooth, if you look at racing games. Maybe an algorithm to smooth elevation changes can help.
  • Better forests, so we don't have lots of green patches in the scenery tiles.
  • More scenery tiles, esp. farms, because I'm on the east coast, so we don't have too many repeated textures.
  • Better autogen loading. It would be great to have autogen phase in, or at least see trees and buildings on tiles just 5 nm away when my FPS is high.
  • Make cities a bit more tidy. New York city is great, but the scenery would freak out claustrophobic people, when there is missing autogen. Washington D.C. scenery tiles also look a bit to squished (I live there basically!). Maybe you can look at the scenery in England and France as an example. There are lots of buildings, but the scenery looks real, and the buildings in it are not all over the place.

I know this is a lot. I do not mean to say FSX is bad in any way, it is a great simulator that I love, if these features can be developed for the next flight simulation game, that would be great. I hope those wishes didn't sound like commands to put them in.

Re: rain...Rain on an airplane does not make water droplets like a car or what fs9 has. I would certainly hope rain would be simulated like it looks on a plane... too many sims imho have made this mistake before of making it look like what it looks like on a car. Xplane actually does it pretty well and best right now.Rain at 186 knots:Rain in xplane at 186 knots:

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Just a small point, but in your sig you write 'If you know what your building and doing on the PC, games from Crysis to FSX will run beautifully ;)' I'm absolutely sure that you are correct, but think that you mean to say 'If you're......' My building? What does anyone know about my building here?No offence intended, but it does distract from the other points you make.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Sorry, I didn't notice the grammar mistake. No problem, I'll fix it.To Geofa: Looking at that real world pic, if they can get the rain any close to that, it would be awesome!!! I also love the atmosphere in the picture. I do not know how to describe it, but its like mist in the air and you know there is precipitation. Hopefully they can capture that atmosphere in the next Flight Sim version.

Using FS Web Communicator to type this, which is a freeware web browser that runs within FSX. Which brings up a wish.Wishes:

  • A integrated web browser like FS Web Communicator, that uses IE as its page renderer. Also with tabs, so we don't have to open lots of windows within FSX
  • ATC that tells you what runway to expect when you get IFR clearance.
  • Cloud shadows, or dynamic lighting
  • Larger clouds, so we don't have hundreds of small clouds in one small area
  • Better 3D contrails
  • Strobes, Beacons, Lights, light up aircraft
  • Sharper Mesh (I don't think this will be a problem though, because of....)
  • More cruise ships, or different varieties.
  • Shaper special airport scenery if possible. Special Scenery on FSX deluxe is good for airports such as KMIA, KATL, KJFK, KORD, etc, but the textures are a bit blurred and looks like this might be because of the resolution.

A GREAT IDEA JUST CAME TO MY MIND READING THE FAA AIM TODAY! :(

  • Allow pilots to control lights at uncontrolled fields using microphone. According to how it is in real life :(
  • Lights that look like their real world counterparts (lights in runway with casing, looking like its coming out of the ground), lights that mark the outer edges of taxiways, runways, etc, look like real life, attached to a base,
  • All Lights look like their real world counterparts. PAPI and VASI so they are not floating in the air.

Maybe these websites can help a bit:http://www.aeroport.public.lu/en/administr...rvices/ele.htmlhttp://www.salvo.co.uk/images/userimgs/8753/19711_1.jpghttp://www.freewebs.com/approach_light/ <--- Has everything you will ever need to see the design of the lights :(. Hopefully these will be very low poly models, that way there is no destruction of frame rate, and I doubt this will be a problem, because we may just get a new engine... :oI know its simple, but it can increase realism a great deal.
