Try crashing the A2A 377 and see what happens. I have the Shockwave (what A2A used to be called) Wings Of Power WWII bombers and these aircraft model crashes. You can even do a belly landing where you skid down the runway with sparks and smoke flying everywhere and the props bent back as they scrape along the ground. Most spectacular (even if it is childish) and more realistic than the sim pausing with CRASH displayed in red on the screen. I would be interested to see if they did a similar thing with 377.
When you have lost a few friends to such you don't really have an urge to simulate it-really.......There was a car game in the late 70's-I don't remember the name but the goal was to run over and kill as many pedestrians as you could with a car-it was pulled fairly quickly...To each his own-but I think most pilot's try to avoid such....both in reality, mentality, and simming...

It's been remade as the Grand Theft Auto Series of video games, the most popular series in history now.

I understand and appreciate your position on this. Fortunately for me I've never lost anyone close to me through an airplane or even car crash and fingers crossed I hope I never do.I think the good thing about the Wings Of Power is that when doing a belly landing you don't actually crash. Your aircraft slides along the runway and comes to a stop so no one actually (virtually?) dies (provided the gunner in the belly of the aircraft has climbed out of his position of course). You actually have to reset your flight otherwise you just have a broken plane. One can gain a certain satisfaction from making a safe landing with an aircraft that has damaged landing gear.

I don't think that most people want to crash planes for fun per se. Though my kids do. But I would like more detailed crash effects for the simple reason that I use FSX largely as a way to think through and plan for the innevitable emergency situation. As it stands MSFS does not differentiate between non-fatal and fatal crashs. MSFS only differentiates between crashes or no crashes but in reality there is a spectrum of outcomes. They don't necessarily need to model all potential outcomes but something like being able to practice landings where the landing gear fails would be very useful.

yes for instance my mom was in a plane crash a little while ago due to nose gear failure, and i wanted to replicate this but i could get as far as just after the flair when the nose was up but then the sim stopped. i never would have known if the plane would survive how much damage ect.

Trying to keep Microsoft aware of some great ideas! Common people, lets suggest some ideas for the new project!

  • Include an option for the sim to continue if you crash.
  • If not possible with FSX, add an option to interface a camera to the cockpit. (e.g. The A380 has tail cameras interfaced to the cockpit to help while taxiing.)
  • Add more options for failures. For example, landing light failures.
  • Improve stalls and spins, and make them harder to recover from
  • Improve fuel flow based on bank angle and pitch. Some aircraft have angles where the fuel cannot flow properly at a certain angle with a low amount of fuel.
  • Improve the atmosphere so in fog and overcast skies there is less blue and more black and gray.
  • If possible add a possibilty to have tornadoes, hail, etc.
  • Improve icing and make it visual on the windshield.

As this board's authorized representative of L'Academie Francaise, who are the guardians of the French language, I must pick a nit as follows ...... n'est ce pasThe "est" is silent and the "ce" is slurred.I will make no charge for the preceding fascinating lecture, number 2317 in the "Wake Me When It's Over" series.

N'est pas means, "Is it not?" In French class they never say n'est ce pas.

  • Allow ATC control runway lights in multiplayer, or user to control them in single player.
  • More transponder modes, recognized by the default ATC. (E.g. Squaking Standby, Charlie, Ident)
  • Allow pilots to control lights on CTAF by "clicking" the microphone, just like in real life.

Yes, it means "right?", and "don't you agree?" and literally "is it not?"As I clearly indicated, it is written "n'est ce pas" but pronounced slurred ... as in "ness pa". But good for you, you're paying attention. It's a beautiful language, well worth learning.

Fix Autogen Pop (My number one immersion killer)Create Dark environment when cloudy. Lighting needs to change. Why does it look sunny when overcast?Cloud shadows .Better lighting period (God rays, etc)Fix the javeline snow effectSolid clouds and solid overcastsBlend the runways into the surrounding environment better. Better visibility layer interaction with terrain mesh. While FSX was better than FS9, the scenery tiles still look too repetitive ground effect slopped runwaycarrier managementBetter use of MulticoreBetter use of SLImake flying as dangerous as can be in real life. I have yet to crash, even when flying in thunderstorms. Not enough updrafts nor enough downdrafts.Improve ATCIncrease scenery areas such as what was done to Istanbul with AccelerationMore missionsbetter ground handling. Aircraft ride the ground as if on ice.More detailed airportsbetter use of DX10/DX11 to enhance performance such as light bloom etc. Right now I can turn light bloom on with dX10 preview but get other problems.

It went the way of the accent ague. (In other words, I am without clue as to how to produce diacritical marks, and I doff my tricorne to you. :()
You can popup the Character Map found in Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools. Or, hold down the Alt key and type the four decimal numbers on the numpad... ;)
