FS11 Wish List

Chris, is not talking about OTHER games he is passionate about Flightsim, as are all of us. All we require is a sim that ALL of us can enjoy without shelling out on hardware we can't afford. That doesen't deserve the title of 'Silly Monkey' now does it?

Thanks for those kind words................................I was comparing scenery like Portland and Fly Tampa stuff that has no frame hit at all. These prove that with a bit of work it CAN be done. They say that 'sarcasm' is the lowest form of wit.

Time to close this forum Down ??

What I want in fs11 is a global scenery/landclass/texture market integrated directly to FSFor instance you want to start your flight in Dunedin, NZ. FS shows you a list of scenery avaibleNZ, South Islandfree:--payware--I want huge landclasses and texture packs, like Gex/UT, but covering all continents and being sold by region directly via the game interface. Imagine like 50Go scenery, textures and landclasses online covering the entire world.Actually if Gex manages to cover all continets in a year or so I dont need any FS11. :)

>Time to close this forum Down ??I quite like the Avsim forums but don't need your self appointed censorship in closing down a 'THREAD' that everyone else is enjoying reading?

With the huge number of hits on this forum (2x the fs9 forum) I think closing the forum would be rather unproductive. So would closing this thread which specifically stated no "flames" allowed. I agree with Dave-lets keep this thread going and keep it enjoyable..http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I wanted to make clear that I was joking, not criticizing anybody.I thought I was clear. Apparently not, so my excuses to you.Of course I would also like to run the next version on any machine without impact. But one need to define : any machine. How old would you allow this machine to be ? What standards do you use for the OS ?I am in flightsimming since a long time, like many of the posters here, and I have yet to see a flight simulator to come out that can achieve this. FU II; FU III; FLY!; even Hangsim and every version of MSFS each time pushed my PC to it's limits, by the time it came to market.Even when I upgraded, I would push the sliders more to the right, and still have slow frame rates. Only by going back to a previous release, I could actually run that version with all sliders maxed. The products you mention are not the whole deal, just a piece. Those developers devoted a lot of their time to understand the inner workings of MSFS, and released the sceneries when most modern pc's at that time could run the software without problems anyway. So that does not really count. It is my opinion that the IT industry is still in an immature state, any OS I know is not user friendly and intuitive as I would like (no, not even MAC OSX, I tried it a few times and could not get around without asking, so it is not 100% intuitive), and HW is still following Moore's law, meaning that every one year and a halve everything has changed.Under those circumstances, it is difficult to develop a product to push the limits, and still be 100% enjoyable on current systems, unless one wants to make sacrifices and produce not the next-gen, but the previous-gen software.Sorry for the long post.I did not want to be sarcastic as you understand it, and I hope I am clearer now.Jan

I agree here ... My wish for the next FS would be an intuitive, easy to use interface, SDK. I had my hand on a few projects in FU III, and even released one. But every time I look at the FSX SDK, only the way it is organized and documented scares me away.I know if I would spent some time with it, I could learn it. But for my job, I am already the whole day working on software, and I don't have the energy to start studying this in the evening. So ACEs, if you are reading this, please make the SDK interface more intuitive and especially easier to use.Jan

Its simple, have ACES bring over the guys that did Ace Combat 6, stir in some money and whalla....you have FS11.

I wouldn't ask for too much but would like to see the atc overhauled. I fly alone all the time and use the default atc. Many times when I am ready to take off the atc is blank. Also there should be a mayday in atc for clearance to nearest field in case of emergency.

Thanks for keeping it open, as I said above, this isn't supposed to be a "lets bass ACES post" it's just supposed to be here to pot ideas(and we've had a lot of great ones.) I especially like the idea to have the option to declare an emergency, I've tried setting my transponder to the distres code before (I forget what it is at the moment) but it had no effect. Ooh, I also like the idea mentioned above in the really long post, about having the FBO as the opening menu page. Keep the ideas coming!

Thanks everybody for your kind words. It is a dream, and dreams come true SOMETIMES!I know some of my wishes are feasible using the SDK, but not without a mission. What I want is a full integration into the FS engine, so everything I described will happen unscripted. As part of the internal FS "REM - Random Event Generator". Randomness, accompanied by realistic flight modeling, provides the near-perfect flight experience that we all search for.THAT integration would be a great addition to FS. I think the mission system is the first step towards achieving that level of realism.FSX is already a great product, a great accomplishment by ACES. Performance-wise it runs quite well on my old 6600GT with sliders set at medium. Graphics-wise it's noticeably better than FS9 in so many ways. So, IMHO I think that current FS performance is adequate, considering the HUGE amount of work needed to generate the terrain, and control all other simulation aspects. Thanks again, and keep your dreams alive ;)

Good posts', agree with many of the suggestions - more so the ones that have been issues for some time such as ATC etc. While I use FSX mainly as a GA sim, I still rely on FS9 for flying my complex A/C's etc.I just hope the next version will do as much to impress those that enjoy 25 minutes engine startups, full systems simulations, checklists etc, as FSX has done for those who like to fly single/twin prop jobs with steam gauges around race tracks etc. I apprecite and understand it's trying to bring new life, customers and ideas to the franchise to improve it, but I just feel a little like what I have always enjoyed the sim series for has been left a little behind. Not meant to be a dig by any means as I repect whatever preference anyone may have, but I'm just hoping that he next version will be able to encompass all aspects of flying preference with decent perfromance AND the add-on community embraces it more than it has with FSX - thus our experiences flourish from its offerings, just as we enjoyed in in FS9. FS9 while having its graphical limitations compared to today's standards, still enjoyed the ability to offer unlimited enjoyment for all prefrences. Heck, I still can't pick which I like best, flying the DODO, DA Piper, or the LVD767 or PIC 737 etc etc. But at least I could enjoy all of them without limitation or scaling sliders etc. And I do enjoy FSX, for what I use it for.Lastly - And beta test/fix/test/fix the Heck out of it before its RTM !! Lets have that shiney new model/paintjob come out of the showroom with minimal dents in it !!Anyways, just my two cents.EDIT: Oops forgot one more thing, please make sure start a clean slate on the LC textures, specifically the "desert" ones, more-so seasonal fall and winter. I edited mine way back, but still have a few screenies to remember them by. :-eek Regards'Garett
