Things I have always wanted:- Realistic fog- Solid overcast with appropriate lighting (cloud shadows fit into this)- A "feels real" low (CAT 2/3) approach (above are key to this), including the ability to descend from sunny skies with ragged tops into the undercast- HDR lighting- Real 3D clouds of various types, including c-nimbus- Multiple light sources (a must for night airport environments)

I'm going to be a bit mean now, just so MS get too sloppy with the lack of flight simulation competetion.Curtesy of Ace Combat 6, running at 50 frames on xbox 360.This is what FSX could look like:"Cloud Shadows and Lightning"http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...7&sid=undefined"Cityscape"http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...4&sid=undefined"Textures and Mesh" (Desert)http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2007/...0_screen006.jpg"Texture and Mesh" (Mountains)http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...8&sid=undefined"Ground texture"http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...5&sid=undefined"Smarter autogen - More framerate friendly"http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...=938702&img=140"Small airport"http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer...4&sid=undefinedWork smarter not harder. Was I mean?(I hope the links works or this will be a real bummer.)-Kinetic

One day this should be here within FSn as well. Maybe some of it in the next version using HDR with renovated light rendering. It's so impressive. Now combine this with some more living world and 3D high res headup displays (180

Besides the post-processing effects and the coloring, i don't see much difference to FSX.Look at the cities and water and with a photo scenery and a good mesh, you can get the same look for the mountains in FSX - e.g. fly with Tileproxy (using yahoo) over the Grand Canyon. And Ace Combat is only a level-based arcade game and "screenshots" are looking always fantastic...I don't think that it is possible for ACES to cover the wohle planet in such detail, with 4 or 5 seasons. For that you have to wait and pay for (e.g. FTX) or build your own scenery. And the sky and clouds are looking very simple to me in Ace Combat.I think it would be better if we would look how WE can take full advantage of all the new possibilities FSX brings, instead of telling ACES how they should do their job.http://stage6.divx.com/user/Bramski/video/...ng-Saint-Helenshttp://stage6.divx.com/user/Bramskihttp://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/Look at FSX in 1-2 years and i don't think that you will then downgrade to Ace Combat 6.

Ok I won't argue against that. To be fair FSX is a different world because it's worldwide, scales to many different systems/hardware and is expandable. I wish FSX was only made to run on the best hardware and graphics cards and shippedwith 5 DVD's of world data... but I guess I can't convince the sales departement at MS to do that because so few would have those computers to run it.-Kinetic

-More modern aircraft (A380, 787, etc.)(Off-topic) Some of the older simulators like FS98, FS2000, and older featured options like "Aircraft lights burn out". It would be nice to see this in FS11.-Better night lighting, like street lights;-Better ATC with emergency procedures and all;-Authentic engine sounds;-Better reflections;-PEOPLE!!!!! It would be nice to see people boarding the plane and all!;-Better ground vehicles;-Extreme weather like hurricanes and tornadoes;-Better grass;-Improved crash effects, like breaking glass;I'll add more later as I get more ideas; I'll edit them into this post.

Regards,

BoeingGuy

WARNING: VERY LONG POST BELOW, if you don't feel like reading please skip to the next post. Thanks.Okay, where do I begin?Allow me to stray for a while and describe my version of a perfect FS dream...I double-click the FS1x icon, the game loads straight into the simulation engine. The UI shows the waiting lounge next to the boarding gate (at my local airport, all rendered in 3D of course), I can move around and watch the traffic from the windows. The airport announcements and background airport noises are mixed with a mellow, light-headed, lounge music of some sorts. The time/weather outside matches the time/weather at my local airport. The menu is displayed to the left side of the screen (hidable), I choose whether to stop and stare at the stunning outside airport traffic environment (for like 2 hours or so), or choose to create a flight from the menu.My customized selection from the menu is reflected (real-time) in the lounge, and my chosen airplane is standing ready at the gate, when I'm ready (and FS is done loading) the gate doors open, I walk to the jetway (or tarmac) and hop into my aircraft. My perfect semi-robotic copilot greets me with a smile, and briefs me on the weather situation and the route information for my flight. If I click on him/her, a menu pops out and lets me choose which tasks I want him/her to handle, and possibly, a choice to simply kick him/her out of the plane and take control of everything!ATC gives the clearance, or maybe delay me for a couple of minutes while the runway and/or taxiway is clear of super-smart AI aircrafts. The push-back vehicle comes at my order and I can control the direction of the push-back via the rudder control. While taxiing to the runway, I watch the trees sway according to the winds. I can see puddles of water on the taxiway from yesterday's showers. The grass is wet too! The intelligent airport ground vehicles will WAIT for me to cross their road.If the taxi is taking a long time, my copilot (if he/she's still there) will crack jokes about it to lighten the mood a bit, and will call the cabin to make an announcement (of some sort!).After takeoff I start to climb into the puffy-smoky-milky clouds. From here on, there will be 2 possible scenarios:1. I continue all the way to my destination, get the landing clearance, and (if I'm lucky) be number 4 or 5 for landing! I can see a faint line of airplanes ahead on final as they each land in line and perfectly separated. I can also see other aircrafts taking off from the parallel runway, and planes on the ground waiting for takeoff. If I make a perfect landing, my copilot should compliment me for it, and, preferably, I get a round of applause from my passengers!2. I discover a fuel leak, and declare an emergency. The tower will give me a high-priority landing clearance on the nearest runway. I go to spot view and watch the fuel dropping from my left aux fuel tank! Engine number 1 quits on me, so now I have a power imbalance. The new-and-improved-high-fidelity flight model will reflect this in a very tough, real, and sarcastic way.I have the option to hand the plane over to my copilot because I -for some reason- forgot the emergency procedures. So I just sit back and watch -and learn- the whole landing process. However, I am a confident pilot and therefore will attempt the emergency landing myself, I struggle with the plane to get it back on the ground, my copilot is screaming all over the place, filling the cockpit floor with sweat (and something else!). I touchdown slamming my back-right tire into the runway, blowing it off to pieces, but luckily the flight model will keep the plane on its feet distributing the weight to the other tires. Emergency vehicles rush to the runway and follow me while rolling after touchdown. The plane stops and the doors open, people will slide out while I make sure everything is safe and shut the plane down.In both scenarios, I get back to the gate lounge, to find my company's representative waiting for me with a flight summary at hand. I see lots of statistics for my flight (Max. speed, max. G force, distance traveled, damage inflicted, passenger overall satisfaction based on my performance, number of times crossed passenger comfort levels, approach & landing evaluation, etc...).So, there I am, back at the gate, I can see the sun setting in the horizon, and the tarmac/taxi lights are turned on. I keep on watching for an hour, and then, when I'm all exhausted, I click on the Exit sign hanging above the door to my left, and get back to my happy desktop (preferably without a BSOD).It's a dream, and it's a long one! So I hope it gives you an idea of my wish list. However, I'd like to add ALL aforementioned wishes to my list, especially:- Cloud shadows, better weather transitions.- Realistic water, and sea waves.- Real HDRL effects.- Bump mapping for airport textures.- Improved ATC & AI systems.- Even better autogen. That's all I can think of right now. Thanks for your patience & sorry for the long post.

I LOVE IT!!!!!

BoeingGuy

Continuing from my other post (won't let me edit anymore)-As you're taxiing, the plane hits lights and metal expansion joints and the sound can be heard from the cabin, and the plane can be seen getting a jolt (wings flex and all);-Traffic on minor back streets;-Improved water;-Improved VCs;-Improved airport vehicles, which actually do the job they're supposed to do;-As you watch from the passenger window view, the window starts to get frosted over with ice crystals;-As said by Bell417, better precipitation effects, like melting snow;-An FSPassengers-like system which allows you to do whatever you want to your passengers.I'll keep quiet and let others get a chance to post now :D.

Great Post GFX!I really enjoy your description of the new main screen. I would to see something like that! I really hope they improve the ATC & AI systems this time around. Keep dreaming, this is great!!

Your words speak a thousand pictures! Well done, and to ACES - thats what it's all about - the full flying experience!Gary

Neat post! It's nice to dream!! And it's nice to not worry about how much hw that will take!!There would probably have to be a startup for GA-type flying too. You got quite an imagination. You should really try creating your own mission. It takes a while to get used to making scenery and stuff but it

I would just like a new sim that will run fluidly on EVERYONE'S machine?Surely this must be possible?
