June 15, 20232 yr I have a pretty good computer (3Gz i7) with MSFS installed on the main SSD drive. It takes approximately 11 minutes from the time I hit open until I get to the main lobby of the game. Is this normal? (I watch the startup with Task Manager and MSFS is the only thing doing anything. Just constant reading from the disk drive and allocating memory.
June 15, 20232 yr This is strongly dependent on the number of addons currently installed in your community folder. Try reducing the number easily with the aid of the MSFS Addons Linker, to see if loading time is improved Cheers, Ed MSFS2020 Steam // Rig: Corsair Graphite 760T Full Tower - ASUS MBoard Maximus XII Hero Z490 - CPU Intel i9-10900K - 64GB RAM - MSI RTX2080 Super 8GB - [1xNVMe M.2 1TB + 1xNVMe M.2 2TB (Samsung)] + [1xSSD 1TB + 1xSSD 2TB (Crucial)] + [1xSSD 1TB (Samsung)] + 1 HDD Seagate 2TB + 1 HDD Seagate External 4TB - Monitor LG 29UC97C UWHD Curved - PSU Corsair RM1000x // Thrustmaster FCS & MS XBOX Controllers

It is reading ONLY files from the OneStore directory (not the Community directory where add-ons live). It also takes very long once I pick an airport to take off from to actually get to the Ready To Fly part (15 minutes or so). This seems ridiculously long for a computer of this caliber (3ghz, 16gig RAM, SSD drive.) The long load times seem strictly related to the number of files that must be read from disk. Just wondering if others see this as well.

June 15, 20232 yr My experience has been that startup with developer mode enabled is also slower. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

June 15, 20232 yr I can load with 2-3 minutes (I7 - 13000k - WD Black 850 SSD) - I really keep my community folder limited (only 3 or 4 items) and I only load the marketplace items I need (Airport I am flying to and landing + plus a couple of other marketplace aircraft). I found thats the biggest factor to keeping startup load times to be pretty quick.
June 15, 20232 yr The sim should load from zero to menu in approx 5-6 minutes. Interestingly enough I have run multiple test with only a few vs all add-ons enabled and the time savings wasn't even a full minute. The longest boot times seem to occur when you install something new as the sim needs time to compile it. Keep the blue part on top...
