What are the best GA airplanes by now in the sim and for VR?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

A while back I did ask about best GA airplanes and this is what I have for now

1) FSReborn Sting S4 (I love this airplane in VR - the open cockpit view is just stunning)

2) Justflight Black Square Steam Guage (Baron and Bonanza Bundle)

3) SWS Kodiak package (got it for 50% off on OrbxDirect)

What else is out there which is excellent in terms of realism.  I know A2A is about to launch and FSReborn M500 is coming (1st day release buy for me)

Thoughts and comments appreciated

for me, specifically for VR, visual quality is a must and part of "excellent in terms of realism", I don't care for mandatory oil checks, 100s of fuses and simulated foul spark plugs, therefore I love:

Carenado PC 12 and Carenado Piper PA 34T Seneca. YMMV.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Good to know...thanks for sharing

I do want all the other bells and whistles as I am spending the money, I do want ultra high realism.  I will watch some videos about the airplanes you have mentioned.

I've found the A1R DW-1 is excellent in VR.  Open cockpit with crisp clear gauges.  Cruise around 120 mph

My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL |
| Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

The following GA addons all stand out from the pack and are well worth having:

  • Ants Tiger Moth
  • Got Friends Wilga
  • Flysimware Cessna 414
  • Milviz Cessna 310
  • Just Flight Piper Warrior II

Also, if your on a budget, the Beaver and the Carenado V Tail Bonanza are a bit less in depth than the stuff listed above but are good value for the price.

Flysimware Cessna 414 and HondaJet are the two I ended up flying more than any of the others. Certainly there is no real best as it is more of a personal preference, but commonly those two are often cited as favorites.

Just Flight 146 if you want something big, fast, and heavy and a bit challenging to land at times (though easy to stop).

AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

My favourites in VR... Flying Iron Warbirds.... Flyboy Simulations Rans S6S (One of the best flight models in the sim too), JustFlight Hawk...Vision Jet....Cessna 310 is good, CowanSim helis (VR and Helis is an awesome experience)

Yes. But note that there are two items that I'm aware of that need fixing:

1. The beacon light does not work.
2. Vertical speed hold as described in the manual does not work.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I'm another fan of Carenado aircraft in VR. V35 Bonanza, Skymaster 337 & Pilatus PC-12 are all favourites of mine.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Hola, chicos,

Pensamientos y comentarios apreciados

I'm waiting for a2a in terms of realism and depth of simulation, I'm not convinced by anything that's out there right now.

I'm looking forward to Rob Young's work,
