June 29, 20232 yr Author Jorg has very clearly stated that MSFS2020 will continue to get updates post the release of the new sim, I agree in part that they should just stop everything and move onto the next sim but that is seemingly not going to happen and besides there's still a fair few months/1+ year before it's released anyway. That's time to sort some of the messes out in this current Sim, the issues they created. Otherwise as above, we'll just get another Sim that suffers heavily from the Two Steps Forward One Step Back philosophy that has plagued so many updates on the current Sim and worst of all many of the current issues may be in the new sim on day one...nobody actually wants that, right!? I've logged more hours in MSFS than I ever did in P3D; the sim runs smoothly with framerates between 30 (Fenix A320*+ detailed addon airports) to around 50 fps. I've had maybe 2 CTDs since launch; the weather looks great, thousands of free addons, etc. Pretty good for a $70 video game, I think.

Ok,perhaps mess is a strong term to use, but by that I mean there are glaring issues that ruin the enjoyment of the sim. Things that are happening right in front of your eyes, so very hard to ignore .eg. ground tile popping ,lines in water, blocky waves animation , white dot /flickering cursor making it unresponsive to control things in the aircraft ,bumps( huge ones) at airports taxiways. The list is long and a lot of these are quite old. Would you be happy if some or any of these carried over? Edited June 29, 20232 yr by capt sl
June 29, 20232 yr I don't know what people are stressing about. Any bugs carried over into MSFS2024 will be fixed in MSFS2028... except for the horizon line bug, which is scheduled for MSFS2032. [...] Personally I don't care if they cancel all World Updates and push AAU3/4 to the next sim etc, please just fix the issues and bugs that YOU created along the way these past near three years. While that would be great and I'd also like to see this, it's just not going to happen. IMO, here's why: If new content isn't created, the MAU/average monthly players figure drops. With up to a year away from MSFS2024's release, that's a lot of potential Marketplace sales not made. Also, don't forget Jorg's bosses are going to be asking him for his numbers. As people lose interest and drift away, it makes the rationale for increased budgets, headcount and extra capabilities harder to justify when all the senior bods see a continued decline in the number of users. We just have to hope that the new content for MSFS2020 doesn't break yet more of the sim and that regression issues in MSFS2020 are resolved in MSFS2024. It is what it is. I do think there should a care of duty, when software is bought it's only right to expect it to evolve, not break certain aspects which then go practically ignored. Regressions in gameplay mechanics are one thing (see the Combat System in Elite Dangerous for example), but when obvious bugs enter the system post release they should get more attention that what we get now. I totally get what you're saying and I do fully understand that income is king as far as the MS overlords are concerned, but there's no harm in asking and wanting to see much more attention paid to these areas that they have made worse over time. Which naturally causes concern with the new title, if we get the same lack of Quality Control then that'll be rubbish quite frankly. June 29, 20232 yr People's pet peeves most likely aren't going to get fixed. Period. There are plenty of things I would like to see fixed. Probably not going to happen. Am I going to defenestrate myself over thi? Probably not.
June 29, 20232 yr Does anyone here know what type of production/sales model does DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) has? I've only tried the demo but wondered if they ever really charged more for newer "versions"? I've only ever seen "DCS - Digital Combat Simulator" and not like DCS 2020, DCS 2022, etc. And, has that flight simulator suffered regressions? It's got a 95% rating - wish they would model the whole world AND civilian aircraft.. I mean, us civilian pilots would have plenty of protection right? 😄

DCS as a platform doesn't have a demo, it's free to use and comes with two modules free, plus trials of modules. There's zero point of doing sequels to DCS with their setup. July 1, 20232 yr All I ask for is that they make the 2024 version same as FSX where multiple monitors can display different windows. This omission was not 2 steps forwards, one step back.. it was more like 3 steps back. Anyone with 2 or 3 monitors covering instrumentation will know what I mean. Either that or make the PFD / MFD buttons replicate to another window too with the Alt/l/h click option.
