July 1, 20232 yr Has anyone bought any of the 1935 period airports that Red Wings Simulations is offering? How do they look quality wise? Do they really integrate into the surrounding scenery? And I notice that Red Wings is offering a complete? 1935 version of all of France. And of all of the US as well? My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel Sims: MSFS2020 Preferred Aircraft Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049
July 1, 20232 yr No but I have to say that with the rush of oldie aircraft this last 3 weeks - that I've placed in my hangar - I might take a look I enjoy the old Croydon in flightsim.to
July 1, 20232 yr Only one I have so far is Newark. I also have the 1935 USA. Yes, it integrates quite well when you remember to remove Drzeweicki's Newark and SamScene's NYC addons. LOL!!! Seriously though, RedWing I think has a cool concept with the whole 1935 world. Routes/missions are coming in the future for the various regions.
July 1, 20232 yr Coincidentally, I was just checking this mod out in the MSFS official forms. And if you want to fly in 1935 US, might as well add in the US Airmail mod with it's beacons and fields. https://flightsim.to/file/32132/1926-airway-route-cam5 /Side note, it's not a historic structure, but Kermit Week's Fantasy of Flight is a good vintage style airport. https://flightsim.to/file/16471/fantasy-of-flight-fa08
July 1, 20232 yr The Redwing website is so poorly designed that I have very little clue what they offer. The first commandment of good writing is "Do not confuse thy reader". Instead of 'slick' they should have designed an informative web site. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
July 2, 20232 yr Author These airports look quite good. Great idea! However there are not that many airplanes of that era to use these airports. I think Red Wings should consider doing the post-war airports. This is considered to be the Golden Age of Airliners, and is an era where we have many aircraft to fly: DC3, DC4, DC6, Lockheed Constellation, and even the early jets: B707. And there is surely a market here for several planes not yet available in MSFS2020: Lockheed L-188 Electra, Convair 240, and the British airliners of the period: Bristol Britannia, De Havilland Comet, De Havilland Heron and Dove, Fokker F-27 friendship, Vickers Viscount and Vanguard, not to mention: Canadair CL-44, Ilyushin IL-18, Saab Scandia, Sud Est Caravelle, Tupolev series. My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel Sims: MSFS2020 Preferred Aircraft Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049
July 4, 20232 yr I was going to get Berlin but I think in the instructions it says it disables other Berlin airports (not on the same site) or something. Same with Alicante I think it alters the harbour, which at the moment is decent photogrammetry. tbh I just wanted some more interesting airports added and didn’t really want others disabled or whatever. I also got Croydon and it always causes CTD for me on Xbox but I do have gatwick redhill and biggin hill so it’s possibly about the number. Edited July 4, 20232 yr by g-liner

Good grief it's a mess, just went for a look and surprised they haven't done my local EGKA seeing as it has so much history. Decent amount of old style airfields though so credit to them, but yeah a redesign of their website wouldn't go amiss. Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
July 4, 20232 yr I got Berlin and Cologne a while ago. They look very beautiful, I really liked what Red Wings did. However, I experienced an extreme performance drop when in the air (single-digit fps; normally, I have 60fps with simple airplanes, and 30-40 fps with the Fenix). It only started shortly after takeoff, fps were fine on the ground. I went to their Discord for help, but they didn't get any other reports about low fps. Not sure why I had that, and it seems nobody else was complaining about this. It could be an interference with something else, but apart from the default Germany update, I didn't have anything else installed in the region. Maybe it had to do with photogrammetry around Cologne and Berlin, but after a few trials I stopped using the scenery and never tried to get to the bottom of it.

I bought the Germany 1935 Pack and was very happy with it...so much so I bought the French 1935 pack 3 days later and all the airports they have created in the European Continent so far. They had a bundle Sale for the Christmas Holiday season. I am very pleased. The airports are well done, the EDNY airport has a Diridgable or is it a Blimp... that comes out of the hanger...crazy cool. I purchased their Farman F60 Goliath airplane and have been flying it exclusively for about 2 weeks. Favorite daytime route is the LFLY Bron to LSGG Geneva airport in the F60 at 2500 Km altitude through the mountain pass. About an hour and a half flight at 120 Km/hr. Also the Paris Airport and the sights they created around Paris...excelent. One thing to know....in some cases, especially for the replacement airport such as Paris which sits where a modern day airport is, you need to remove the modern day airport out of the Official Folder...otherwise you can end up with some wierd blending of the two. It is easy enought to do with MS Addons Linker, a freeware program at Flightsim.to There is a way to create a virtual link to be able to switch between which scenery you want in the simulator. If you go on the Rewing Discord...people will help you with that. Edited January 15, 20242 yr by franco4flyin missed word
January 16, 20242 yr I started a VA based on the American airports. You have to take it with a grain of salt but it's really cool to fly in the 30's. I was a huge Golden Wings fan in my FS9 days and I'm glad someone else has decided the golden age is important. James M Director of Ohio Valley Air Transport, a Golden Age VA for those who enjoy the slower pace.
