You can tell it has not been tested. In this day and age you don't release till tested or have been given feedback and you would also have a back up and not get rid of the backup.
July 11, 20232 yr If it's true, that they didn't save a backup of the original site, then I'm pretty much at a loss for words. I guess, if that is indeed true, I never knew how amateur these guys are or who they hired for their web development. It's dumbfounding. For the people saying "those who don't like change don't like progress", thats laughable. Cruise around the usual flight sim sites and you'll see nearly everyone is outraged. This isn't progress. It's a giant leap backwards. There was no need for a change this big. The previous iteration worked reasonably well. If they had just worked out the kinks there, we'd be in a much better position. Unfortunately, they've gone the complete other direction. Edited July 11, 20232 yr by Bdub22
July 11, 20232 yr Some of the comments here...And the circle jerk begins. Instead of saying 'update bad hurr durr', maybe provide with actual feedback so they can improve and fix the shortcomings. They didn't purposely do this you know. Stuff happens and it's not always good. Baber My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/HDOnlive

Stuff happens and it's not always good. Submitted feedback but never heard anything back. If they could at least roll back and fix everything during that time plus test it. Then people would be more happy. Like a lot of us are saying why break something if it is not broken. I would be interested to know who asked for a complete revamp. July 11, 20232 yr I most definitely do not like the new site overall - not nearly as user friendly as the old one. However, I do like the dark theme. "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
July 11, 20232 yr Statement from the comments section on the site Thanks everyone for their valueable input. We're almost at 200 comments now and it's great to see how many of you share their opinion with us - greatly appreciated. However, the more comments that are written here, the more challenging it becomes for us to keep track of them all. We will now close the comments at this point, but will continue to take into account the feedback we have already received. If you would like to provide further feedback, please do not hesitate to use the "Feedback" button located in the bottom right corner. This helps us gather all the feedback in one place and address it accordingly. We are already on it.Reasons for the Update We understand that the changes we have made, as with any change after using an existing system for over 3 years in time, require some time to get used to and may elicit mixed feedback. However, we had reached the limits of the old system, which had faithfully served us for 3 years. Progress is an ongoing journey, and in order to continue growing, we must constantly evolve and innovate. Time does not remain stagnant, and it is essential to embrace change and development to stay ahead.Missing Features Many of the missing features some of you have mentioned here have not been removed; they are just located in different places due to the new design. For example, features such as wishlists, new updates, changelogs, and individual feeds are still available. Once found, rest assured, your familiar functionalities remain intact, just a few clicks away in their new location. Let me assure you that, as described in the article above, we are currently in a transitioning phase. Missing features will be available again as usual in a few days. It would be a mistake to believe that this is the final version of the website — we are far from it. We have already implemented numerous updates today. The "Since Your Last Visit" page is back. You can find it in the left sidebar right below the Home icon. The My Updates page allows one-click access to your latest updates. It is located in the navigation bar on the main page. Dependencies have been reintegrated into the file pages. Translations have been added and will be gradually implemented. The My Downloads page now defaults to Update available. The option to mark files as updated or remove them from the list has been integrated. Furthermore: You can view the File Changelogs in the right sidebar by clicking on the respective version number. We may also reintroduce a dedicated Changelog list. Notifications are coming back and will be much more organized, ensuring you don't miss any updates. In the meantime, which should be within 2 days, you can visit the Notification Center to view all your notifications. Date/time information for uploads will be displayed if previously missing. A category-specific search is already feasible through the Discover page, but we will also bring back the category-specific search function in the category pages. We want to assure you that there is no need to be concerned about the new version lacking features compared to the previous one. We genuinely value your feedback, and we want to express our sincere appreciation for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We understand that navigating through changes can pose some initial challenges, but we are confident that this is just a matter of getting used to in its initial phase. For the latest updates, we encourage you to follow our official Twitter page. Share 01
July 11, 20232 yr From what I can gather from reading the last part. They don't want to own up to the mistakes and would rather us just accept what Its like and let it grow. Like I said they should use the back up if they still had it till they resolve the majority of issues. Edited July 11, 20232 yr by carlanthony24

Like I said they should use the back up if they still had it till they resolve the majority of issues. Definitely the way it sounds. I don't like it, I think the redesign massively undercuts the user experience and despite their saying that most of the functionality may be there eventually, the UX changes and hiding things behind menus are really ill-conceived. I have already said it on this thread, but I am simply not going to be frequenting them much any more and not looking for mods. If I see a mod referenced somewhere that resides as fs.to, I will click through the link and download it. Using their tools to look for things with the new - awful - picture layout makes it too difficult to scan for what you might be interested in. I find that with the very high percentage of negative feedback (98%+), it is remarkable that they are doubling down and telling people to adapt rather than listening to the feedback. They locked the thread down just so that they could stop the negativity. That's not listening to your customers.

It's about whether the new design it functional/helpful/easy, especially as compared to the previous site. We can all admire a Rube Goldberg machine - it doesn't mean it's the best implementation of a particular function.
