September 6, 20232 yr Hi, so far I’ve been using simbrief for my flight planing so far it helped me very much. I have one problem tho, with time, I noticed that simbrief is more like a route planner, than an approach planner, and I couldn’t find any useful data about the approach( expect the stars/sids) like ils frequencies or go-around plans. Do you know if simbrief can do that? Or can you recommend a free software that has the approach frequency/charts, etc?
September 6, 20232 yr Simbrief does not do that, no. Depending on where in the world you're simming, you may be able to find free approach charts online; Sky vector.com is a good source for US charts for instance. You might also install Little Navmap, a fantastic freeware flight planning and nav tool. It reads the nav data from your sim and will tell you things like frequencies and courses. Andrew Crowley

Don't let the interface (specially after the first install) scare you off: you can remove a lot of the default screens from view and only keep the screens you want to use. The same goes for every part of the ribbon bar. It's extremely easy to check which approach (including transition) will suit your STAR (or route) and it offers ALL relevant information at a glance. Best flight simming freeware tool ever imho. Could be payware easily. (EDIT And btw it of course also shows you all SIDs and STARs and whatever there is in the sim!) Last time I used it (before I got a Navigraph subscription) it simply was a collection of charts found online, right? Still very cumbersome to figure out a proper approach with just charts you have to wade through... With LNM you can simply click on each and every available procedure and see it on the map instantly. Way more convenient. Having said that: if you just like to check charts without a subscription Chartfox is nice indeed and a great free option. But for planning etc. LNM beats everything.
September 6, 20232 yr Another Vote for Avliassoft EFB. Been using it for years, I won't fly without it.
September 6, 20232 yr Maybe I misunderstood op's question. With a navigraph subscription and charts app, when using Simbrief there are all of the available approach charts for a given airport, such as ils charts. These charts do contain the respective ils frequency and heading plus missed approach instructions. At least in the USA, you can also get these charts for free via the FAA's website. I think the OP doesn't have a Navigraph subscription as he is asking for a free tool. Would be very odd if the OP does have a subscription but doesn't know about the advantages it offers. 😉 1 hour ago, Bobsk8 said: Another Vote for Avliassoft EFB. It is not much more than free. 😉

For ILS approaches, you can just import the flight plan you got from Simbrief downloader in the world map, and then choose SIDs, STARs and the ILS approach to the desired runway from there. The ILS frequencies will be tuned automatically and you will have horizontal and vertical guidance on approach. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
