September 9, 20232 yr Compared to an enthusiast sim user install of FSX (with addons), is there a list of what FS2020 still lacks or is addon unavailable? From searching I can gather a few things: seasons, multiple window viewports and replay. Just comprehensively trying to figure out, with 3 years of maturity, what's FS2020's status vs the old standbys (FSX/P3D). Thanks.

It is leaps and bounds better than any other sim, both available today and in the past .

September 9, 20232 yr I suspect he is interested in what is missing (or not yet up to standard) in MSFS 2020 when compared to the other sims. The "status" vs the old standby's is very clear: it's miles ahead of them when you consider the big picture, miles and miles and has been since the SDK opened up the sim to complex aircraft. Yes, of course, there are some areas still missing some valued attributes that the other sims developed over some 25 years or so, but ultimately, they are minor, and we look for some of those to be addressed next year for the 2024 release. September 9, 20232 yr I am not missing a lot, but of the things that were in FSX and are not in MSFS2020: option to save a flight as default that will automatically be loaded in the sim at next start afcad replay FSpassengers Activesky Many more probably, but do I really miss them? September 9, 20232 yr For the 25th time: there IS a very capable replay system in MSFS. It was not present at launch, but it was added almost two years ago. This replay system -- that has long-since been accessible in MSFS -- is the same built-in software that Asobo uses to generate their always-impressive trailers. You just need to enable the replay system and move it to the default dropdown menu. It will then appear on the default menu. Personally, I believe that the replay system is overly complicated. But it's definitely there in all versions of the sim. September 9, 20232 yr MSFS 2020? Already much a thing of the past. MSFS 2024 is around the corner. There will always be stuff "missing". Even when MSFS 3050 is released. IMHO, look for stuff that's there and don't focus on what's "missing".

Eh, we've done that and given Asobo accolades (and money!) in recognition of what they did right with MSFS. We (and addon devs) have to push them to add what's needed to move it in the direction we want it to go. Asobo expects us to do that, which is why they have the whole wishlist/dev roadmap thing. There's nothing wrong with pointing out what's missing.
September 9, 20232 yr FSX ? What is it ? Oh yeah, the sim I played 10 years ago and that I left then for P3D 😁. Foggy past. I miss the ability to pick up the right weather for the time of the day when I fly (wrongly labelled historical weather) and.., 57 minutes ago, David Mills said: his replay system -- that has long-since been accessible in MSFS -- is the same built-in software that Asobo uses to generate their always-impressive trailers This is the point, we have little use for a module made for software engineers. And the record/replay system of FSX and P3D was, if not perfect (it was not), easy to use. And you could do nice videos too. it is weird that Asobo which has made the extra mile to make the sim (too much) compatible with the Xbox UI environment, cannot make a module where you push a button on your controller to record , push again to stop and save a clip. September 9, 20232 yr FSX? I miss the need to spend two weeks of simming time trying to tune my system to produce 25 frames per second with an acceptable level of detail. I miss the er…imaginative weather🤪. I miss spending hours going down the rabbit hole of Process Lasso and all the other voodoo fixes that never quite work in the way they’re claimed to and I really miss spending all that extra cash on a big stack of CD’s to try and give the sim scenery I might vaguely recognise.
