BMWorld & AmSim San Diego Airport KSAN released

Featured Replies

Could someone confirm or counter what I am seeing regarding AI traffic.   FSLTL is acting like runway 27 does not exist.  Even with the wind blasting 270 at 22 the airplanes all use 09 no matter what I do.  I also noticed something looks wrong with the way the runway looks programmed.  Also, someone had said that the installation was fixed but I tried it this morning to reinstall while troubleshooting the AI and it did not install.  I had to pull it over from the ORBX library folder to the community folder to install.

Can someone confirm with FSLTL that they can not get the planes to take off on 27?  Might be time to switch to PSXT. They also seem to be favoring taxing down the runway for some reason.

The wind sock is 270 at 22 but they just keep going with runway 9 take offs. I haven't seen one land in 30 mins of watching.

I agree with much of what has been discussed in this thread so far.  Overall this is a much improved and updated rendition of San Diego than the LVFR, although there are a few serious flaws that need to be corrected and it is unfortunately missing the modeled downtown.

Critical issues that I hope are addressed quickly:

1 - The starting point for runway 27 is off.  The AFCAD needs reworked so aircraft taking off will use the displaced threshold.  Also, the entry to runway 27 at the end of the displaced threshold is blocked with three dimensional runway /reil lights preventing a clean taxi.

2 - Although I use PSXT, I did test with FSLTL, and it is a disaster.  Aircraft are taxiing on the runway and only using runway 9.

3- I am seeing a triangular ground tile that is a slightly different elevation near the end of runway 27 as well.  Otherwise the airport grounds appear to be smooth.

Less critical things that I would like to see fixed in the future:

1- Would be great to see downtown and some of the approach buildings modeled such as the Laurel parking garage.  Even the east basin of the harbor looks bare without all the docked boats on approach.

2 - There is a piece of GSE (bag cart or something) improperly placed blocking the taxi into one of the United gates (maybe 45 if I recall)

3 - The atrium glass on Terminal 2 West like people mentioned is not the green reflective color as appears in real life.  Also, would be nice to see a bunch of GSE placed underneath..

I really like most of this airport, but it needs just a little bit of work to make it great.  Hopefully they will be updating this to address some of these issues.

just did a flight after uniinstalling the new version from Orbix and BNWorld andAMsim. and reinstalling Latin VFR

Ran the PMD 737 and doing a Localizer approach to running 27.  Fist thing I noticed on final approach, the new version of KSAN, the downtown area looks vey SHABBY, unlike the Latin VFR downtown KSAN looks much much better.

As far as the airport, and the airport itself, the orbx version, looks much  better and more detailed.

Thank you McParr42.

1. Okay, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being unfair. CYUL has this problem too the jets will taxi up 24R like it's a taxiway and then just sit there before they disappear. And they always fail to remove the runway edge lights from the taxiway exits.

2. I tried PSXT knowing the pitfalls over FSLTL but I just couldn't get over the way aircraft behaved.  Taking off at 20 degree angles and staying angled while turning corners, the randomly snap slewing to an adjacent taxiway or random disappearance and reappearance of some airplanes.  The take offs were very strange like taxi speed to the middle of the runway then they go into hyper drive.  I also noticed a lot of the aircraft fall completely short of the runway.  I was hoping it would be a little better.  Great concept though.

3. I saw that too, but with the unfixable PG issues that developers are running into I gave them a pass.

Less critical.

1. Agree, do you see the same issue I see with the prototiles not lining up and the weird masking?  Their office screenshot shows that the water in the harbor goes to the banks and only the 3D dock models should be visible. Maybe I downloaded a water mask and can't figure out what file it is.

2.  They did the same thing in Phoenix there is a big loader on the margin of taxiway R by the American hangar.  I asked them to remove it several times.  Never got fixed.   In fairness they did re-do the F gates... mostly, they got rid of the southwest signage, added phoenix style palm trees added the CRJ sleeve gates to 4B.  Although, they angled them strange so they still aren't usable. But that was like 4 things out of 30. Then Alexey said there would be a second update but it never came.  So I feel a bit cheated when they have pumped out 6? 7? major airports since March?

3. Glass is tricky for BMW/Amsim.

I agree they could be very great and that's why it's so disappointing to have all these little problems. The fact they rarely get fixed while new sceneries with problems get produced it what is souring the experience.

Maybe you can e-mail them?

Just wanted you guys to know I put a support ticket in the LVFR forum about possibility to remove the airport and just have an option for city own scenery.  I pointed out that I'm not on the marketplace which I realize likely would have been impossible.  But he said it's NOT possible to do this.  So in one fell swoop we will not be able to combine the best of both worlds.  I guess our best hope is waiting for a new city scenery from a different scenery maker.

Just wanted to stick in a good word for Alexey and BMW re this airport.

I bought this immediately, and think it's great. The only issue I had was that there was a clash with the SupercarrierPro product, in that KSAN included two USN 68 models at the NAS docks and the SCPro USN76 obviously didn't mask out the underlying area for its own dockside location, resulting in the underlying USN 68 poking throught the USN 76 in places. (there is a similar issue with the freeware "SDNavy" package).

I contacted all three authors. No response as yet from the freeware author (fair enough), Miltech said they'd become aware of the issue but didn't think they could apply a mask to a third party product, but Alexey got straight back to me and said he'd investigate and try and figure out a way to remove the carriers.

That was a couple of days ago, and then this morning I got an email from Alexey with a link to download a version of KSA without the two carriers. I downloaded and installed it and it works a treat. No USN 68s at NAS, and the SCPro USN 76 now sits and functions perfectly.

I'm not sure at this point if this is a purely personalised version of KSAN just for little ole me, or if this will be incorporated as a configuration option in the standard product, but either way, this is possibly the most impressive bit of customer support I've had in this or any sim.

So a big thank you to Alexey - he seems to have had some bad press in here on occasion but as far as I'm concerned he's one of the (very small number of) good guys.

I am sure that SamScene3D already sees an opportunity to make money.)

I sent an email to Alexey and hopefully some of the issues can be fixed with an update.  I would love if Alexey adds downtown to a future update but also would be happy to buy the downtown and surrounding even if it were done by Sam Scene as part of USA Cities Volume 2.  There is a lot to model in the San Diego downtown / harbor area and I believe it would be a very popular product.

I have added the USA Cities Volume 1 and both Boston and Los Angeles look spectacular.

I see nothing wrong with LVFR KSAN except it was released a year ago. And now everyone has a new toy to play with. Nothing has changed in the way KSAN is modelled I saw one post saying LVFR sucks, without giving any reason for such a statement. LVFR customer service is excellent, and they always responded to my needs very promptly. I'm not crazy about their A320 line, but they make some great products. Now if someone would do a side-by-side Comparision, I would love to see a good reason to buy the same airport again, although nothing has changed in San Diego aera to warrant a change just because it's a year newer.

It was actually released 3 years ago (one of the first MSFS airports I bought in late 2020) and it was also a direct port of their P3D version that goes back several more years (4 or 5) before that.  So, it isn't 1 year old and some things have changed at KSAN since 2015.  I am happy with the change to BM/Amsim version.  LVFR is out of the airport business so do not expect any updates at all to their airport lineup. Their version of KSAN still to this day has double windsocks. If you are happy with it, enjoy it but if I was deciding between the two, not sure why anyone would go with the LVFR version at this point.

Alexey responded to my email within just a few hours and informed me they have an update already on the way to the distributors that will address many of these issues.  Very impressed with his response and good to hear they are working to support their products.  Looking forward to having the updated version installed.  He also indicated there are no plans to do the downtown, so hopefully SamScene or someone else will do it soon.

I have both sceneries and if you are doing a localized appproach on runway 27, and passing the dpowntown area to your left there is no comparison to Latin VFR, and BMWorld&AmSim.  Latin VFR did a wonderful job with the downtown area.  Hopefully SamScene does it.

Good to hear.

Great. AIG and FSLTL were using the wrong runways. Apparently, that is a "known" issue of FSLTL from their FAQ on the website. AIG was not doing this, however.
