October 28, 20232 yr I’ve bought the polystorm3d 8k 787 cockpit textures , will they work with this , does anyone know ? 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.

October 28, 20232 yr Just an observation from watching Vatsim CTP the nose slams down like crazy on touchdown for everyone, why is that? Nose heavy? Edited October 28, 20232 yr by JBDB-MD80

October 28, 20232 yr Here are my thoughts: I set it up with total SimBrief intergration, using the EFB to send TO calculations to the FMC. - Take off is awful. Needs a huge amount of yoke (I rotated around 165 knots when my Vr was calculated at 147). Got tail strike indication - Had to apply a huge amount of nose down trim after TO (even though my TO trim was 4.25) - Was challenging to control in the initial stages of the climb (mainly trim issues) - On approach, passing through 4000ft (on VNAV descent), I switched to FLCH keeping speed as it was (220 knots) and reducing altitude to 2500ft. Suddenly engines spooled up sending the aircraft speed to 270 knots despite selecting a lower speed and altitude. This needs looking at as well. - The EICAS checklist warnings are really annoying and keep popping up despite checklists being complete - On landing the nose gear came down so quickly despite me having a very smooth touchdown and holding the nose up a little In cruise the aircraft is fine, but it needs a lot of work to cope with the more challenging phases of flight (TO, climb, approach and landing) AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card
October 28, 20232 yr I tried several flights mid range (USA coast to coast) with GE engine variant. All flights with simbrief value and I do not have problems with take offs or landings so far . I downloaded 787-9 directly from flights.to and manually placed in the community folder. I also downloaded and installed livery pack. The only issue I have is speed management which AT sometimes keep a bit higher Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). The real aircraft is awful for the nose slamming in, you can get the smoothest main wheel touchdown but then the nose always clatters into the ground. The correct technique is to smoothly fly the nose wheel to the runway and not try and hold it off like we used to on the 747. I’ve not tried the -9 yet so can’t comment on it , there is the chance that this harsh de rotation has been deliberately modelled due to input from type rated pilots , or it may just be a glitchy flight model, I don’t know. I'm looking forward to trying this aircraft though. 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
October 29, 20232 yr I've done 4 flights in the 787-9, no tail strikes, yes I've had the nose pull up faster than it probably should, but not badly enough to hit the tail on the runway.

Get what you are saying but it just seems the nose on this mod is a little aggressive on the touchdown nose behavior. but looking forward to more of your input and thoughts.
