The voices are commercial windows SAPI voices from Cereproc and Ivona.  I haven't had access to the new voices that will be included with Vox yet...

I’d pay. Navigraph should include it in their survey, then you’d get an idea of who would pay. I think you’d be surprised by how many would pay, considering people pay monthly for navigrap and live air traffic.

I also tend to be willing to pay for a subscription regarding voices.

Having listened to the previews of Beyond ATC and SmartSky AI it's very hard to go back to these anachronistic TTS voices.

 

@Ianrivaldosmith @RALF9636 I'd pay too, but there is a lot of vocal disagreement on that.  I'm always open to different views, but the key question is would it be sustainable development wise?

True. "Subscription" is like a red rag for some.

So offering both options would be the way to go.

It seems some are keen to see/compare how/what of TW's ideas for Class A & B sectorisation / holding / rnav vs legacy procedures are being included in an MSFS version alongside the co-pilot mode .... & which he had evolved for future P3D versions. (eg the exclusive VATC airac)

Some are more interested in one's own comms mixed with proactive controlled traffic comms at hub airports .....  a feature unique to VATC.

A plus with these is that for VATC co-pilot mode (airliners) mode users is tone can further assign/use that same co-pilot voice with MCE commands & scripts and also write sound files for the likes of PMDG co-pilot calls and fsuipc.lua FMA calls.

in MSFS ???, but certainly in P3D.

Well, there definitely exists the ability to use any SAPI voices with Vox.  There will also be about 20 new unique voices included as standard with the app.  Have to see whether there's enough demand to introduce a subscription for other AI voices.

Good grief. People on the BeyondATC discord are furious that there will be a cost to using the voices. Now people here are mad that VoxATC won't have costs to use the voices. 

Want really great voices that you have to pay recurring charges for? Get BATC. Want good ATC with free voices? Stop yelling at the BATC devs and get this one. 

 

If VoxATC decides to be BATC with a different name, how will that differentiate it in the market?

Vox has been in existence for probably longer than the BATC dev has been coding 😄  It's been controlling AI in flight sims for over a decade, long long before BATC was even a twinkle in anyone's eye.  If anything is deciding to be the other, it's the other way round.  Let's see BATC do MATZ penetrations and LARS, control VFR flight with entry and exit to/from class D airspace using recognised VRPs, then come back and comment about differentiation.  There's room in the market for a variety of offers.  Competition in itself is great.  I'd reframe your comment by saying, if you want accurate ATC, choose the product that meets your needs. 😄
