The more I have flown it today, the more I have liked it.  The handling and sound pack are great, and I love the old style emissive light bulbs.

The only downside is the cockpit textures, but there is a good chance they will be improved at some stage - either by BlackBox or someone on FS.to!

If I remember they improved the BN-2 Islander cockpit textures after some feedback.

If anyone wants to use the Short 360 in FSE and is finding the fuel tank layout is incompatible, it turns out that MSFS auto assigns the fuel tank "names" based on the fuel tank location in the flight_mode.cfg config file and a minor shift off the centreline (0.3cm) can get MSFS to change the names and make it compatible.

So I've created some basic community folder mods to do this tweak for the various versions of the planes in this pack

Glad to see 8.33khz support even if it's a bit of a hack

When I get home this evening, I'll grab the update and see if anything has changed in the flight_mode.cfg which would mean the FSE Fuel Tank fixes need updating.

These have all been released as multipacks now - 49.99 euros for the complete set or smaller groups for 29.99 each. Personally I wish I could try one cargo variant with one livery for 9.99. Then I might bite.

I flew the aurigny flight from Guernsey up to Southampton this morning in the 360.

I’m really enjoying the aircraft, it’s a great view  in VR looking over my left and seeing that PT6 and wing strut, it’s great the update now gives you the opinion to remove the yoke.

There are no changes to any flight_model.cfg files in the new version so the mods for FSE fuel tank compatibility seem to still be working fine.

That's the marketing magic of "bundles".  For all the models you get with an "All-in-one" version, the cost ratio is not unreasonable...however, few simmers will routinely fly all of them so the "value" for the simmer is diminished.

In the virtual world where no product is physically produced, the company loses zero net profit as there is no cost for materials, like producing a can of beans for example.  A bean-making company that sells 10 varieties of beans can't just bundle them all in one package and sell them...the public would never buy it first off, 2nd, the cost of all those cans, shipping and storage, etc all cost money per can, regardless if they are packed into a bundle or not.

Virtual products on the other hand, have no appreciable costs (if any) associated with manufacturing, distribution, transportation, storage, etc.  So if they bundle all their varieties into one package and sell it at a higher price, it is no loss to them.  The perceived value of getting them all tugs at the basic human instinct to own everything, even though we may only use 10% of all we get.  Watch a young child amongst a bunch of toys he can't possibly ever play with at one time, and see how he reacts when another kid tries to take one of his toys, you'll get the idea LOL.

Yeah...for the simmer's value, letting them just pick up the models they want at a reduced price is how we'd all prefer it.  And you obviously can't take the price of the total package and divide the cost evenly per model....while mathematically correct, it would never be cost-effective for the developer, and you want them to get a fair value for their hard work and to remain in business.

So, there could be alternate ways to compromise so each side is getting both value and compensation for each purchase.  One common and very popular method is to buy 1 at a set price, and each additional model you buy, you get XX% off that model's price, and so as you buy more, you save per model.  Sure, the overall cost for this method would be much more than the $50 if you added it up, but if you only want one, maybe even 3...the price would be close to $50, but you have control of what you buy and if you only bought ONE...for let's say $25...then that is a great value for the simmer.  Let's say you want a few more...and the next one would be $15, and the 3rd was $10...you'd be in for $50 with less models than the "Premium pack", but it would be all you need.

To me...seeing one plane (any one I wanted in the pack) for $25 is a heck-of-a lot more enticing then having to be forced to plop down $50 for all of them and maybe only ever using 2 or so.
This thinking throughout the whole community when deciding to buy this plane, would naturally lead to a ton of more sales at $25 vs very few at $50.  Some Devs just don't seem to get that, and they keep giving us these "Bundles" at a price that simmers will rebel against (esp when you compare it to the recent FSR M500 just released at $33)..and will be a solid "NO SALE"...vs seeing one model at $25 and thinking..."Yeah, I could swing that".  Simple marketing strategy....lost on some trying to cash in on the all-or-nothing methodology.

And as you mention about the price of the separate packages...laughable at best, insulting our intelligence at worst.

I really want this plane, but I'm not paying what they are asking for the bundles...any of them.  So there is a lost sale right there.  Switch to the sales model to the one I mention above, and I'll get one sale for sure...maybe 2 from me.  That's an assured $25, maybe $40 to Blackbox...current bundle strategy= $0...the math seems pretty simple to me. 🙂

I just wait for major holiday sales. Problem solved.

Hey I fly FSEconomy.   How do you like the sherpa?  I was thinking about purchasing a DC-3 and then this flying box came out. Are you able to get full functionality using this aircraft in FSEconomy?

@turbomax

I was looking at the cockpit interior like are we back in FSX days?

Then I looked up the real plane's interior...ehh that's pretty much as good as it gets I guess.🤣

At the moment only the SD360 is available in FSE. I've put in an aircraft nomination for the 330/Sherpa but it's not had a response so I'm not confident anything will happen.

I've flown the 330 a few times in FSE aliased as the 360 (using the fuel tank tweak) and it's been good. Sadly there aren't many to rent or buy right now so options are somewhat limited where you can use it but once you get around the fuel problems it works very well.

Yes, you're exactly right.👍

I've been reading and listening to all the comments about the cockpit textures, and on first loading and seeing it on the monitor I must admit to my initial impression was a little underwhelming.

However , as you say this is exactly how the real aircraft is , there's only so much you can do with a large black panel.

In VR ( varjo aero at hi res) it looks really nice, the instruments are all constructed in 3d, and I'd say just about on a par with the excellent ones from black square, the analogue clock's second hand has a nice bounce to it for example.

Moving in close to the panel and coaming reveals a nice wear texture to the paint and materials, and looking up there's a intricate floral pattern on the overhead plastics.

In VR it's actually really good.

I've just been doing night time ILS circuits at Guernsey in low cloud and rain, a very stable instrument platform , and breaking cloud in rain with that working wiper going is very realistic and immersive.

PS I think your bottom photo is probably the skyvan ?

Yep, that's one of the things I love about VR.

It's native stereoscopic 3D can make lower quality textures look good wrapped around fully rendered 3d objects.

The Carenado planes really shine in VR as well, I remember just sitting there staring at the sheep material on the cockpit seats in stereo 3D in total amazement.😍

No way I could stand to fly those visuals in 2D though....not enough ambient occlusion in the world for those flat black vinyl looking panels🤣
