November 13, 20232 yr Commercial Member I just like this shot, and XP12 tends to produce a pretty high percentage of "forum posting" worthy screenshots lately, maybe because of VisualXP enhancements too. Can't tell for sure, but I know I really like the lighting and overall atmosphere, it doesn't look "CGI like - render like" like MSFS. My wife took a look at the shot, and she said "it looks like a photo". Well, that is enough for me. 😄 ORBX Spain HD + VisualXP + freeware Alouette III HSF. November 14, 20232 yr wet weather on the ground and night lighting like runway and taxiway lights are the best in any sim. Night flying is where XP has never had no real competition. Edited November 14, 20232 yr by jason74 Jason Richards

I said it was a strange topic to run a contest with considering night lighting in MSFS is not great, especially with missing lights all over the place and taxiway lights randomly appearing in the middle of taxiways, etc... I said that unfortunately, XP12 is where I prefer to fly at night because it just looks way better and I hope MSFS can improve to compete with THAT. It was considered inflammatory and unconstructive while all I did was mention how good XP12 looks at night and expressed hope that one day MSFS can reach that level.

I mean...why should only this forum be on the receiving end for constant comparisons with that other sim? 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
November 23, 20232 yr XP12 is so good in terms of image quality lighting etc that appears to have fooled a couple of folk who run aircraft type picture data sites (Airliners.net etc) I was looking for a picture of a particular type (The Schwiezer 300 actually) and livery. Found some and looked at the first, yep ok, then the second (different location and rego) took me a little while to realise it was not a real photo of the real helicopter but was in fact a screenshot from XP12 and of the Schweizer. So close to real that it fooled them! I did not have the heart to tell them! When avid aircraft nuts get fooled you know its word not allowed good! Edited November 23, 20232 yr by coastaldriver

Ok, I'm going to visit Airliners.net asap to confirm your findings. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
November 23, 20232 yr Sorry I was talking generally here is the link to the pics I was referring to: https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/VH-HYD The white one, Is that not an XPlane model? I stand to be corrected! But have not seen any with markings like that except in XPlane pictures

Notice the clouds and shadows, especially from the rotor blades. In XP12 shadows are jaggy low resolution mess, and you can't fake that. 🙂 Edited November 23, 20232 yr by Pe11e Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
