For anyone having unsolvable installation issues, you can manually install the update by downloading the app files here and extracting and copying them to the AutoFPS directory %appdata%\MSFS2020_AutoFPS\bin.

As a matter of fact, I am just about to roll out a test version of DynamicLOD_ResetEdition today that works with both 2020 and 2024, automatically detecting which MSFS version you are running and using separate config and log files for each. The new app will be functionally identical to the current latest release version 0.3.9 for MSFS 2020.

As promised, the first dual MSFS 2020/2024 compatibility test version of DynamicLOD_ResetEdition is now available to download and install here https://github.com/ResetXPDR/DynamicLOD_ResetEdition/releases/tag/v0.4.0-test.

Please let me know if you encounter any major issues if you try it out. If so, and they can't be resolved in a few forum responses, message me direct and attach your log file and we'll take if from there.

Changes are:

• Added MSFS 2024 compatibility to provide dual MSFS version compatibility
  • Automatically detects which MSFS version you are running, 2020 or 2024 and Steam or MS Store, and will use a separate MSFS 2020 or 2024 config file, as applicable.
  • Identifies which MSFS version config is in use under Connection Status as either MSFS2020 or MSFS2024.
    • If showing in red and is not the MSFS version you wish to configure, start the desired MSFS version and it will change to that.
    • Remembers which MSFS version you last used the app with and will start up next time with the config for that MSFS version.
    • If you only have one MSFS version installed, the app should always default to that version.
  • Can be installed over the top of your existing DynamicLOD_ResetEdition installation. If so, it uses your existing config for 2020 and creates a new one for 2024.
  • MSFS 2024 Dynamic Setting will be automatically disabled when AutoFPS is controlling MSFS settings and will return to existing status when finished.
  • One log file will be created that logs the app's activity with either MSFS version.
  • As with MSFS 2020, the app's session will remain active when accessing the MSFS 2024 menu and settings while in a flight and also when using walk around mode, photo mode, and free look mode.
• AutoStart install option
  • AutoStart for exe.xml is now functional for MSFS 2024 in addition to MSFS 2020.
  • If no exe.xml file exists for either MSFS version, one will automatically be created and configured for autostart.

What exact error message are you getting and at what stage of the install? A screenshot of the error message would be very useful.

Edit: It's not what I thought it was but thankfully I am able to replicate it.

This error occurs if either your Usercfg.opt file is not pointing to the correct location of your MSFS 2020 packages folder, under which your community folder resides, or you had the Steam version of MSFS 2020 and have uninstalled it due to getting MSFS 2024, yet the Steam uninstall leaves remnants in your user roaming folder that are making this app's installer think MSFS 2020 is still installed.

If the former then nothing in your MSFS 2020 community folder would be seen by the sim and therefore would not function, so unless you are experiencing that this first option is unlikely. If the latter, I experienced such remnants being left over when I uninstalled MSFS 2020 from my gaming laptop to make way for MSFS 2024, so I can see how this has happened for you.

Since uninstalling the Steam version of MSFS 2020 is likely what many users will do in the near future as they move permanently to MSFS 2024, I will change the installer to give a warning message that the user will have to acknowledge rather than fail the install outright. Standby for an updated version with a revised installer.

Test 2 has been released here https://github.com/ResetXPDR/DynamicLOD_ResetEdition/releases/tag/v0.4.0-test to address Gelrd's app installation issue, which appears to have been caused by an MSFS 2020 uninstall that left key installation remnants.

• Revised installer to warn user of the app potentially not working correctly instead of failing installation if Wasm can't be checked/installed/updated to at least one MSFS version's community folder.
• The installation will fail if Wasm can't be checked/installed/updated to any MSFS version as the app will likely not be able to function at all.

Installation should now continue through to completion.

Example double Wasm install fail.

@Gelrd, let me know if Test 2 now allows you to install the app.
