Anyone else notice VSync not working in DX12?

Featured Replies

Has anyone else observed VSync not working lately in DX12? I'd observed some screen tearing recently, and I tried turning VSync ON in the Nvidia Control Panel instead of inside MSFS itself. To my delight, the screen tearing suddenly disappeared completely. Previously, I just turned VSync on inside MSFS and it worked fine -- until lately. Anyone else?

As far as I'm aware this has been an  issue for almost a year now. There are several threads in the MSFS forums were it is discussed. I believe it was broken with SU9 or S10 and has been logged as a bug but... still here we are.

Merry Xmas.

DX12 doesn't work for me either.  I tried a few days ago and nothing got rid of the screen tearing.  My performance is fine, but it's a shame I can't seem to use FG to juice out more FPS in low performance areas with high traffic.

Part of my problem is that I use an older 4K TV @60Hz as my primary display. My computer can push way past 60fps, but that's when the screen tearing shows up because my TV can't keep up with the video card's output. Once I turned VSync on in the Nvidia panel (as opposed to inside MSFS), I can use FG but capped at 60fps by the Nvidia panel. I feel I get smoother performance with FG (but capped at 60fps) than I get without FG capped at 60fps. This may be my imagination. When you think about it, it's kind of funny. A very real problem in flight simming now is too many fps. 🙂

My monitor goes to 144, but I still see some tearing issues.  Perhaps I haven't set things up correctly, but my performance is great in 99% of the flights I do, so I didn't feel like rebooting 800 times to fix it.

You havn't been able to use Frame Generation and V-SYNC since AAU1 if my memory is correct. It was working initially when FG was first introduced and then one of the "updates" broke it.

There's a thread on the issue here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/regression-dlss3-frame-generation-with-vsync-broken-in-1-30-9-with-fixed-refresh-rate-monitor/568809/96

Its logged as a bug but since not that many people have voted for it I doubt its going to get any love.

No problems using vsync in MSFS here, but that's with a 3090 so perhaps vsync just doesnt work properly when combined with FG. The FSR3 mod also doesnt seem to work with the built-in vsync.

I have a 100hz screen but was using vsync at 50% without issues.

I've only ever had it enabled within the Nvidia control panel and not within the game and never had a problem. SU14 hasn't made any difference.

No problems here using FG and no tearing with Vsync ON in NVP and OFF in the sim.

Monitor is 60 Hz and using an RTX3080Ti with driver version 546.33.

Everything is really smooth.

Same. VSync on in NCP and no fps limit super smooth. Gsync monitor 180 Hz.

Why do you use V-Sync if you have a G-Sync monitor?

My exact setup except with the .31 driver. Same experience. Smooth as can be.

I’ve always used vsync via NCP and not MSFS so it always works for me.
