Mariposa-Yosemite Airport (KMPI)

Featured Replies

Downloaded and finally got a chance to fly there yesterday.  And wow!

I'm an airport junky, both in real life and in the sim.  If, like me, you love small, unique GA airports in interesting locations you absolutely must have this one.  Filled with all kinds of lovely little details and simply superb!  Landing Rwy 26 in the TBM 850 was definitely "sporty"... and fun!

Mariposa has now been updated to version 3.1.0, featuring numerous small fixes designed to enhance the experience for all simmers. While some updates address bugs specific to MSFS 2024 users, this release also includes improvements for MSFS 2020. Enjoy the update, and please share any feedback you may have! Changelog:
The ZIP now includes two folders: vbcorp-airport-kmpi-mariposa and zzz-vbcorp-airport-kmpi-mariposa

  • For MSFS2024 simmers, make sure both are active in your Community folder. Keep the name zzz-vbcorp-airport-kmpi-mariposa as is.

  • For MSFS2020 users: You can safely ignore the zzz-vbcorp-airport-kmpi-mariposa folder.

On flightsim.to I see this List of VBazillio sandiego area airports 2024 ready and they do not require any additional assets in msfs2024. So installation is just drop them in Community (or in AddonLInker is you use that). (I have them all myself already in 2024):

The new 3.2.0 finally reveals a sign that I wasn't able to identify  I found a picture on Internet that shows it. It’s a reminder on abatement procedure, and now you have it as-real-as-it-gets in your favorite sim:

40c93da1ff89eb9cfd4e620cb9715e66c4a8b40b

This new version, for PC MSFS2020/24, adds also many new features including 2 acclaimed ones: new custom made taxiway signs and option to activate or not static aircraft. Your choice!

Why make KMPI your next destination? :snow_capped_mountain:

Mariposa-Yosemite (KMPI) is more than just an airport—it’s the official gateway to the legendary Yosemite Valley. By flying here, you’re perfectly positioned to launch your own scenic tours over the Sierra Nevada mountains, El Capitan, and Half Dome. With the new 3.2.0 update, you get the most immersive version of this historic mountain gateway yet. Whether you’re practicing your mountain flying or staging a mission into the heart of the park, KMPI is the perfect home base for your next adventure! :airplane:

Releases notes

  • Add custom made taxiway signs (c)VB Corp

  • Add missing 26 taxiway signs

  • Add missing signs “Noise Abatement procedure” (x2)

  • Add extra details (new signs) at the fuel island

  • Reposition some blue light poles

  • Static aircraft and vehicles on parking spot and inside hangar or potentially overlapping Ai traffic removable via another batch file (Toggle-Static-On-Off.bat)

  • Update weathered ground textures at both holding points

  • Update Jet A and 100LL prices

  • Fix textures error at threshold 26

  • Fix taxiway lines (not really straight)

Instructions to switch static aircraft ON/OFF
Launch Toggle-Static-On-Off.bat to quickly toggle all static aircraft on or off, helping to prevent conflicts with AI traffic at starting positions or simply to customize your ramp environment. You can now empty hangars for you own usage.

  1. Close MSFS: Ensure Microsoft Flight Simulator is completely shut down before running these scripts.

  2. Execute: Locate the script Toggle-Static-On-Off.bat in your scenery folder (vbcorp-airport-kmpi-mariposa) and launch/double-click it with your Windows Explorer.

    • If the static aircraft are currently active (.bgl), they will be deactivated (.off).

    • If the static aircraft are currently inactive (.off), they will be activated (.bgl).

  3. Verify: The script will display a success message indicating the new state of the files.

  4. Launch MSFS.

As usual with all my mod, it’s freeware, made by a passionate amateur developer. Thanks to all for your support! Download now: Mariposa-Yosemite Airport (KMPI) - MSFS Add-on - Flightsim.to

Would it be possible to upload to the store for default inclusion?

You mean the MSFS Market Place? If so, unfortunately it's barely impossible as there's no room for freeware. As far as I remembered there're only one or two things which are free for third parties. It would required - on my side - energy and time to get approved by Microsoft and would required support that I'm not at all capable to provide. Freeware on the Microsoft Market Place, have been discussed hundred of times on MSFS Developper Stream. It's on the list of Microsoft among thousands of other things.

If you mean, that this kind of freeware get incorporated into the default digital twin world of MSFS, I'm not Gaya and the now-dead World Hub has too many limitations to support this type of freeware.

Absolutely, one of the biggest mistakes made in MSFS so far is not giving World Hub a chance to properly develop and become truly useful. It would also make collaborations between freeware developers much more streamlined had they built it out well. Wasted potential...😑

Great stuff as always @vbazillio Vincent. Just downloaded and off to install and check out in sim 😊

EDIT: Conducted a nice flight out of and around the updated KMPI in the DA Mi-2. After a couple laps around in the air, then landed and checked it with drone camera. Very nice improvements and great little GA vibe to this one!
