Both apps currently don't detect whether HAGS is on or off, but possibly may do in future given I have two cases where FG is being incorrectly detected now and that setting could be why.

BTW, the app will still function for most, even if it gets FG detection wrong. You just may have to halve or double your FPS target depending on whether it detects FG incorrectly as being enabled or disabled respectively. I may put a config file option in the next version to allow FG detection to be disabled completely in such rare cases.

There should be no need at all to reinstall MSFS. Oh and DLSSG IIRC was meant to mean DLSSG If I Recall Correctly - too many acronyms hey! 🤪😄

I think I know what might be happening here. When you tried FG, you would have switched FG on in MSFS settings, but then you might have turned HAGS off which stops FG working and greys out FG in MSFS. However, MSFS has retained that FG in settings memory as on because that's what it last was before you disabled it externally and your usercfg.opt file setting of DLSSG being 1 indicates that is the case.

In short, try changing that DLSSG 1 line in usercfg.opt to DLSSG 0 before you start MSFS and see if that fixes it. Let me know how it goes.

How are you enabling FG? If it is external to MSFS then no, the app won't detect it as it checks to see whether MSFS is in DX12 mode AND the MSFS FG setting is turned on.

Even if you are using FG externally and hence FG is not being detected, the app will still work but it just means you have to factor any doubling of FPS FG does into your target FPS by setting it to the non-FG equivalent. eg. if you want a target of 60 FPS with FG on, then you set 30 FPS as the target in the app.

Thanks for such a quick response.  So, yeah, apparently MSFS is not recognizing AMD's FG the way Nvidia might be. I don't see in MSFS any setting selections for FG on/off.  But, I thanks for the info about external usage.  As the FPS displayed for MSFS is about half  that of what AMD Adrenaline is reporting; I will follow your guidance can see how it goes.  For the most part I prefer to run  MSFS with DX11 (seems to less troublesome than 12); so I will continue to use 11 until such time as AMD/Asobo recognize that FG is active for AMD video cards.

I must reiterate how impressed I am with AutoTLOD,  it has completely eliminated the micro stutters I was getting on approach/landing of the FlightFS Honda Jet HA420.  If you are inclined to try to get some deserved compensation for your efforts (Patreon, etc.) I would be more that happy to contribute.

HAGS on/off shouldn’t matter with regards to these apps. Re: which one to use: AutoFPS for simplicity / ease of use - DynamicLOD for more user control (pre-defined altitudes for TLODs).

Yeah, this thread moves fast! In a way it’s a good thing as AutoFPS has seen some attention now outside Avsim. And it’s forbidden to discuss it at the official forum, as it violates their precious forum guidelines.

I flew with this add on all day, two different aircraft, the Fenix and PMDG 737. It works great. I even set up the advanced menu, which isn't that difficult.  Makes MSFS smooth as silk.

For some reason I am getting the short end of this and the question mentioning  the FG hack is because I perhaps attempted too many avenues at once.  That said, after reversing, step-by-step, the FG hack for pre-4000 series RTX GPUs ( I have an RTX 3080 ) I seem to be experiencing stutters with both.  Opposite from what was expected.  Attempting to determine why in light of the overwhelming positivity.  Have eradicated both apps from my system and completed fresh installs.  Will leave both untweaked this time and try again tomorrow.  I likely followed too many paths from this long and winding road, to quote a song.

I have dumpted the FG hack (using an RTX 3080) and starting over with trying each app (separately).

Let me know if the app says you have FG enabled after removing the mod, as I am trying to work out whether the MSFS FG on setting is laying dormant on such setups and causing the app to incorrectly identify that FG is still enabled. If it does do this, please edit your UserCfg.Opt file and change the line DLSSG 1 to DLSSG 0 and tell me if that fixes it. Thanks.

The app is fantastic. However I cannot get it to autostart. Th installer is not editing my exe.xml i think because its not in the default location? Could some one kindly post the relevant code so that I can manually edit the exe.xml file myself? 

 

EDIT Never mind, I found where the installer put the code and copied and pasted it into the correct exe.xml.

I could not find anything in the Windows Event log. However I checked the option to remain "On top" and ever since then the program seems to be working properly even after turning "on top" off again. Let's see how things go tomorrow morning after shutting it off tonight. (0135 local).
