Anyway, my money is on the 787. I reckon PMDG could do a good job on all the things that are missing from the Working Title version we have.

The WT version is pretty darn good so I would def skip PMDG's version.

Yep. A wheel fell off one the other day. A United Airlines 777. Unfortunately Airbus can't build them fast enough and already have a huge backorder so Boeing will still get customers but the next time I fly I will choose the airline very carefully.

Yeah I agree, it's my go to for anything over 4 hours of flight time. I'm not taking anything away from WT it's just there's room for depth in systems is all and maybe PMDG would have the ability to go that extra step.

I watched it do its emergency landing at LAX live. That flying wheel did a lot of damage to the car in the parking lot too. If it had taken another 5 or 6 seconds longer to fall off during the climb it was dropping straight onto the 101 with traffic, there would've been carnage.

That wheel falling off is more than likely an airline or subcontractor maintenance issue of not fitting it correctly or missing early indications of material fatigue. Perhaps it was even damaged in some sort of incident that wasn't noticed leading to it eventually failing. If 777s had a design issue where wheels fall off you would have started seeing this happening ages ago and more frequently.

A month ago a wheel fell off a A319 (IIRC LATAM?) in Sao Paolo. No one cared. All eyes are on Boeing now, selective perception. Well earned, though, I must admit.

I disagree. It's very good for a free/default aircraft, but it's missing a lot of systems depth, half of the overhead switches are non-clickable for example. I'd take a study level 787 any day.

Definitely their own fault. However, it would go a long way if people would stick to some reason even if they have every right to be upset. I recently read some articles on Boeing that mentioned the Delta 757 nose wheel coming off before takeoff or the panel separating from the United 737-800 on approach into Medford and intentionally made it sound like it was a Boeing quality assurance and/or design issue.

They are going to develop another A320, sure, It's the fashion now and the nowadays trend.

They call it 'news' but of course it is mostly speculation and/or innuendo. The nail biting "Boeing fails again" type of bullet headlines seem to be designed to keep Boeing in the headlines and thus sell more 'newspapers', get more viewers/listeners etc. Will the ordinary citizen ever hear about the final investigation outcomes re these incidents which will most likely be customer maintenance issues?  Possibly, but it will be buried deep and will not refer to the to the original article which made the suggestive and disparaging comments towards Boeing. In other words, they speculate, they make innuendo, they use fear to sell their product, they hide the more the truthful outcomes deep down and they don't apologise for being wrong. 

I'm not sticking up for Boeing. They have big problems without a doubt.  But I do have a problem with media headlining their views and calling it news. We know people are easily swayed by media influencing.

Gee whiz if it isn't "pretty darn good" what do you call study level?  Fabulous, superb?  What exactly did you disagree with? 🙃  I never called it study level, fabulous or superb...just pretty darn good and it darn well is 😉

If anything it's all just a case study in how media funnel "hot topics" for clicks and advertising dollars. Airbus have a huge problem with oxygen tanks too but it barely got a mention. Media zombies just want to hear about how Boeing have gone KEEERRRAZZZY.

It was mentioned, it just was NOT as significant a problem as the many problems going on with Boeing ... or what has been going on with Boeing since about 2002.  And I have no desire of suicide, just in case someone finds me dead one day.

Maybe it's time for Lockheed Martin to return to design/build of commercial aircraft rather than just military ... let Boeing continue their spiral and fail and the fair market persist ... that's capitalism (for better or worse).  But to bail Boeing out is "socialism" and I know that will set this place a blaze! 🙂
