I purchased MSFS2020 via Steam and have some items in my community folder. What (if anything) do I need to do in advance of SU15? There's a ton of opinions out there on the web regarding this, but I'm looking for a consensus from those on avsim who purchased via Steam. I have the Steam edition. There was a time when I used to rename the Community folder ( to something like Community_Backup or similar) because there was so much conflicting advice , as you're probably aware by now. When the sim ran, it recreated an empty Community folder, the update went ahead, everything was fine, and then I deleted the new, empty Community folder, renamed the backup one to 'Community' once more, and all was well. However, for the last year or so of updates, I've done nothing - I've just run the sim, its updated, and everything was fine. I think there was a CTD once, but the next time I ran the sim, all was well. If you are uncertain, this being your first update, for peace of mind it does no harm to do rename the Community folder. Don't move it - just rename it where it is. Then, once all has settled down, delete the newly-created Community folder and rename the original backup one as 'Community'. Simple. As said, you don't really need to do any of this, but you've probably read so much about it that you feel you must do something to be certain. If so, do the above. Otherwise, just let the update happen, like I will be.🙂 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

May 7, 20242 yr I'll try this one again.... Everybody seems to be talking about backing up the COMMUNITY folder.....but what about the OFFICIAL/STEAM folder? I have addons in both of these folders. May 7, 20242 yr It's not necessary to back up anything before an MSFS update. Follow whatever back up policy you have for any other piece of software, it depends how you choose to live your life. With MSFS it isn't necessary but, ultimately up to you. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

I have the Steam version of the game, by the way. Edited May 7, 20242 yr by Paul K Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
