No, the fuel aelectors go back to "on" (i.e. non-crossfeed) later in the runup checklist.

Thanks.... I was using the checklist in the aircraft overhead, and that step is missing, but it is in the pilot manual.

I'm not totally sure where this information comes from, but that is not accurate. At the core is, the sim does not support hot swapping avionics. We have advised developers against utilizing hot

  • I'd say FlySimWare Cessna 414 if it can't be the Duke.

Ah, so you mean it's missing from the built-in MSFS checklist? Could be worth reporting - sounds like an inadvertent omission.

Well I found out this afternoon that is on the in flight checklist, I just missed it. It is in the runup checklist, between "Surface Deice - Off" and "Pitch Trim Power - On". Got to clean my glasses, I guess. 😉

Don't feel bad, I have taken off with crossfeed on before, missed it in the checklist, discovered it during climb...

I'm flying the piston duke down the spine of the Americas (Brooks Range in Alaska down to Cape Horn in South America) and I gotta say, this, or the turbine Duke, are great planes to do this type of flight in.   Currently in Zihuatenejo, Mexico and got stuck there for a few days due to Hurricane Erick.

I haven't seen Andy or Red in Zihuatenejo, but they're known to keep a low profile.

I am going to be flying the Turbine Duke tomorrow around Brazil. Should be fun. First flight is SBSV to SBPS down along the coast.

I've been practicing approaches in the Turbine Duke at Mosjøen ENMS -- an airport in northern Norway with a short runway and challenging terrain. In other words, Widerøe country. Check out the first-rate freeware scenery on flightsim.to.

Hand-flying the Duke is just such a joy. Very predictable, everything feels right. Bringing in reverse thrust after touchdown and making easy work of a short runway is so satisfying. Speed control in beta range during taxi is really good too. What a fantastic addon.

Sometimes I will (accidentally) pull throttle all the way back (below the click and into beta range) on short final, only it doesn't enter beta because I'm still in the air -- and only to realize after landing that I need to "blip" the throttle levers forward and back again to engage beta.   It's pretty neat how they essentially prevent you from going into beta before landing...I don't know if that's by design or what, but it's neat the way it works.

A neat feature indeed - and very much by design. In fact, there's even an option in the EFB ("Unrestricted Beta Range") to turn this protection off if you wish.

What I really need is an adjustable throttle detent for the Honeycomb Bravo.  All of the detents I see on the market are fixed for some airplane (A320, 737 etc.) but I want one that I can adjust for different aircraft.

I've never flown a PT6 IRL that will not go into Beta while airborne.  Usually there's a physical stoppage, but if you move it beyond that, the engine will go into beta in the air.  It's pretty useful sometimes in a Single Otter.

I think the Turbine Duke is the best hand flying GA aircraft in MSFS.

It sure trims out nicely.  And feels like you would expect.  I guess if I can get it trimmed, anyone can.  I love the mix of digital and steam.

On my flight from Alaska to Chile, I'm sitting at Guatemala City Intl Airport in the piston Duke, I will be hopping thru Central America on some shorter legs in areas I often fly in (San Salvador / Tegucigalpa with its nice approach / Managua / then possibly somewhere in Costa Rica / David, Panama / Panama City / Jacque, Panama.     That gets me to the Darien and probably Bahia Solano, Colombia after that.  What a trip.   Only one (minor) failure so far, that was in British Columbia.

I made that paint hehe.  It's based on the real version of a royal turbine I saw when I used to work in DLH.

Where can I find that livery. Looks great!!!
